TIMES MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA TUESDAY, OCT. 10, 1961 LENA KERN DIES AT 61 Mrs. Lena Grace Kern, 61-year-old resident of 21 Lafayette street, Oolitic, passed away at 11:01 p.m. Monday at the Dunn Memorial Hospital, where she entered October 6. She had been in failing health for three months. Mrs. Kern was born January 16, 1900 in Howard County, Kentucky, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Childers Taylor. She was married to Labon Kern April 19, 1924, who survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Warren Chaney and Mrs. Raymond Turner, both of Bedford, Mrs. Randy Clark of Indianapolis and Miss Linda Kay Kern, at home; one son, Labon Kern, Jr., of Route 1, Bedford; 14 grandchildren; three brothers, Leslie Taylor of Bedford, Wilburn Taylor of Williams and Elmer Taylor of Otisco, Indiana; and three sisters, Bertie Kern of Owensburg, Ellie Bowen of Howard County, Kentucky and Etter Cottrell of Bellevue Heights, Florida. She was a member of the Oolitic Pentecostal Church. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Oolitic Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Henry Skinner officiating. Burial will be in the Hilltop Cemetery under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Friends may call at the Day & Carter Mortuary after 7 p.m. today. ****************************** MRS. KERN SERVICES HELD Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Grace Kern, 21 Lafayette street, Oolitic, who passed away at 11:01 p.m. Monday, were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Oolitic Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Henry Skinner officiating. "Peace In The Valley," "Precious Memories," and "Led By The Masters hand" were sung by Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Flynn, Miss Rita Ann Butler, Mrs. Jerry Arthur and Glenn Butler. They were accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Glenn Butler. In charge of the flowers were Rosie Kern, Naomi Kern, Dorothy Kern, Virginia Byrd, Norma Mays, Mildred Kern, Donna Kern, Emma Kern, Ruby Kern, and Edna Rexroad. Pall bearers were Kenneth Kern, Preston Byrd, Von Kern, Frank Kern, and Ben Taylor Paul Kern. The services were largely attended. Burial was in the Hilltop Cemetery under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.
