BEDFORD WEEKLY MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA FRIDAY, MARCH 7, 1902 Mrs. Melvina Johnson, a pioneer resident of the Erie neighborhood, who lived with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Maher, was found dead in bed Friday morning. She was over 80 years of age. The funeral took place at 1 o'clock p.m., at Erie ***************************** The funeral of Mrs. Melvina Johnson, who died at Erie Thursday evening, took place at the Erie M. E. church Saturday at one o'clock in the afternoon. It was largely attended, many from Bedford being there. Eight pallbearers carried the casket containing the remains from the house to the church which was but a short distance. Rev. Sawyer conducted the funeral services and the choir furnished excellent music. Mrs. Johnson was very old being somewhere in the eighties. Her husband, Wesley Johnson, died sixteen years ago. She left two daughters, Mrs. Mira Johnson and Mrs. J. P. Maher; a large number of grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Amanda Hamilton, a sister, and her husband, of Washington county, were here to attend the funeral. Many beautiful floral emblems were given by friends among which were the following from Bedford: School teachers of Bedford an emblem of roses and smilax, a bouquet of carnations from Mrs. C. E.
