BEDFORD DAILY TIMES MAIL BEDFORD INDIANA FRIDAY, AUGUST 8, 1947 FLORA A. SMITH TAKEN BY DEATH Mrs. Flora Alice Smith, 84, died at 2:00 a.m. today at her home on Bedford R. R. 4 in the Peerless community following an illness of three years. The daughter of Tom and Eliza Pope Conner, she was born in Illinois January 2, 1863. She married George Smith in Monroe county October 21, 1881, who has preceded her in death. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Peerless Baptist Church. Survivors are eight sons, Edward, Clarence, Lonnie, Homer, Charles, Carl, Stanford and Otha Smith, all of Lawrence county; two daughters. Mrs. Zelma Anderson and Mrs. Minnie Deckard, both of Lawrence county; 28 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Clarence Connor, Bloomington, and James Connor, Heltonville; two sisters, Mrs. Martin Deckard and Mrs. Sherman Deckard, both of Bloomington. A son, William, preceded her in death. The remains were prepared for burial at the Sherwood & Ferguson Funeral Home and will lie in state there until the funeral, arranged for 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Mount Pleasant Christian Church north of Bedford. The rites will be in charge of Rev. Claude Reuter, of Marshall township. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
