Bedford Daily Times BEDFORD INDIANA Friday, January 17, 1941 JAMES BYERS DIES FRIDAY County Resident, Timberman Succumbs To Long Illness At Son's Home James N. Byers, 68, died at 11:30 o'clock last night at the home of a son, Perry Byers, in Mitchell. He had suffered a heart ailment for the past three months.. Mr. Byers had resided in the Heltonville neighborhood for many years, where he was, engaged as a timberman. He was a native of this county, born June 2, 1872, to Jabish and Mary J. Browning Byers. his wife, Mrs. Mary Keithley Byers, died many years ago. Survivors include five sons, Paul Byers, Bedford rural route 6, Perry of Mitchell, Lee Byers, Bedford, and Lloyd Byers, Heltonville route one; two daughters, Mrs. Cora Guthrie, Bedford route 3 and Mrs. Mildred Hutton, Valley Station, Ky.; one sister, Mrs. Esta Turpin; one brother, Lafe Byers, and fourteen grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o clock from the Mundell Christian church by the Rev. Loren N. Raines. Burial will be in Mundell cemetery. The remains will be returned to the home of the son in Mitchell late this afternoon, from the Jones funeral home in Heltonville. Byers / Beyers
