    3. BEDFORD WEEKLY MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA FRIDAY, JUNE 6, 1902 BOY DROWNED Caught a Fish And Fell Into Quarry Pit Full Of Water. Louis Zankel, eight year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Zankel, of Oolitic, was drowned in a quarry pit full of water near that place last Saturday evening. After the men at the quarry quit work young Zankel with other boys went to the pit to catch fish, which abound there. He succeeded in catching one, and became so excited that he slipped on the muddy brink and fell into the water. As none of his companions were large enough to give him assistance, and the quarrymen had gone home, the boy drowned. The funeral took place Monday forenoon. ********* FRIDAY, JUNE 13, 1902 CORONER'S REPORT. Description of Louis Zonkle who was drowned just north of Oolitic May 31st, 1902. Aged 8 years, brown eyes, light hair, height 4 feet 2 inches, and weight 60 pounds. After having taken testimony and viewed the remains my verdict is that deceased, Louis, Jr., come to his death by an accidental drowning. Harvey Voyles, Coroner.
