He was born Nov. 16, 1891 in Helmsburg to William and Margaret Branyon Baughman. He married Bessie Armstrong and she preceded him in death. He was a member of the Christian Church and a retired farmer and salesman. Surviving are three sons, Ernest Baughman, Martinsville, and Joe and Bill Baughman, both of Brooklyn; one daughter, Elizabeth Kinder, Logansport; five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at the Neal & Summers Funeral Home in Martinsville with Dr. Robert White officiating. Burial will be in Springville West Cemetery. She had been in failing health for seven years. She was born Oct 31, 1907, in Springville, to Kern and Lizzie Giles Armstrong. She married Ovan Walker in 1930, and he died in December, 1944. She was a retired schoolteacher at Needmore, Shawswick and Oolitic. Surviving are one son Tom Walker, Bloomington; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. A brother, John F. Armstrong, and a sister, Bessie Baughman, are deceased. She was a member of the Hillcrest Christian Church, Ludean Society, Sunshine Helpers, Lawrence County Retired Teachers Association, Indiana State Teachers Association, and the National Association of Retired Teachers. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Philip Curry officiating. Burial will be In Springville Methodist Cemetery. He was a member of Old Union Christian Church, a retired county commissioner, Shawswick Township Trustee, and a school bus driver. He was born Jan. 1, 1919. in Lawrence County, to Alva and Ella Beavers Hobson. He first, married Mabel Jones on June 2, 1938, and she died June 6, 1959. He married Elizabeth Fleenor Hatfield on March 19,1971, and she survives. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a German prisoner of war. Survivors, include the mother of Bedford, his wife; three daughters. Carol Hobson and Mrs. Rosa Lee Crulo and Mrs. Sue Lawyer, both of Bedford; two sons, Kenneth and Larry Hobson, both of Texas; 10 grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Mrs. Wilma Jean Cheek, Fayetteville, and Mrs. Helen Key, Bedford; four sisters, Mrs. Harrell (Lois) Boling, Mrs. Claude (Mabel) Elkins, Mrs. Oral (Faye) Keller, and Mrs. Forrest (Katherine) Mathews, all of Bedford. He was born Feb. 15, 1907, in Hymeria, Ind., to William I. And Nora Gore Roach. He married Frances Duncan on Oct. 12, 1941 and she survives. A 1925 graduate of Bedford High School he formerly worked for the Indiana State Highway Department, later with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and was employed at Crane in that position with the Land Acquisition Dept. He retired in 1974 from the U.S. Navy at Crane. He was a member and former deacon of the First Christian Church. Surviving with the wife are one daughter. Mrs. Thomas J. Lahey, San Francisco. Calif.; two granddaughters, and one brother, Ben Roach, Bedford. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Luther and Merlin Roach. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary, the Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Also surviving are one step-daughter and two stepsons. While residing in Bedford, Mrs. Hays worked as a cashier at Scotlad, which is now Mid-Town Food Mart. Burial was in Baranncas National Cemetery in Pensacola.
