Mrs. Huggins was returned to Hartford City on Tuesday for services and burial, which was in the I. O. O. F. Cemetery there.

R. 2, died at 10:25 o'clock last night at the Sunny Acres Nursing Home where she had been a patient since February 15. She was born April 29, 1868, in Lawrence County, the daughter of George and Susan Tumey Pace. She married Dan Jones February 28, 1915, in Bedford, and he preceded her in death January 9, 1952. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jones was the last of a family of six children. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Fayetteville Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Ferguson & Speer Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Reuter officiating. Burial will be in the New Union Cemetery. Milburn, a nuclear physicist at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, died Tuesday of a heart attack. Rev. C. W. Park of Huntingburg officiated at the funeral with burial following in the Cuzco Cemetery in Dubois County. During the service Mrs. Burgess Miller sang "Home Sweet Home" and "Sometime". She was accompanied by Mrs. Ed Lapping, organist. Pallbearers were member of the Cecil C. Martin Post No. 250, American Legion and included James Grissom, Howard Hawk, Ernest Toot, Bernard Garceau, Clyde Houchin and Troy Speck. Military rites at the grave were accorded by members of the French Lick American Legion Post.

She had been seriously ill for the past two weeks. Born May 13, 1892, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Marion and Mary Reynolds Eads. She married Homer Kinser October 9, 1915. R. 2, died at 10:30 o'clock Friday night at Dunn Memorial Hospital where she was admitted April 2. She was 39 years of age. Mrs. Hardwick had been ill for the past year. A native of Lawrence county, she was born March 20, 1920, the daughter of John and Ethel Henderson King. She married Manuel Hardwick February 29, 1936. Surviving are the husband; three sons, Dencil Muriel Hardwick , Vestal “Butch” Hardwick, and Wilford Dale Hardwick, all at home; a daughter, Carolyn Sue Hardwick at home; the father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. John King of Oolitic, and two sisters, Mrs. Wilma Perry of Henryville, Ind., and Mrs. Veneta Pickens of Orleans. A son passed away in infancy and a sister and a brother preceded her in death. Mrs. Hardwick was a member of the Trinity Pentecost Church at Springville where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday with Rev. Ray Snow and Rev. Earl Anderson officiating. Mrs. Hardwick died at Dunn Memorial Hospital at 10:30 p.m. Friday.     3. DAILY TIMES-MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA MONDAY, MARCH 9, 1959 DR. BYERS SUCCUMBS AT RESIDENCE Last Rites Are Set For 2 P.M. Wednesday Dr. Norman R. Byers of 1503 Twenty-second street, a practicing physician in Bedford for 27 yeas prior to his retirement in 1948, died at 1:45 o'clock this morning at his residence. He would have been 64 tomorrow. Dr. Byers was one of Bedford's leading physicians and for many years he was associated with Dr. Harrison Ragsdale and Dr. John Pearson in the Bedford Clinic. The Clinic was established on Fifteenth street, in the vicinity of the Indiana Theater, and it was moved to the Citizens National Bank Building. The only surviving member of the clinic is Dr. Pearson who is retired and resides in Florida. Dr. Byers was a graduate of Indiana University Medical School with the Class of 1919. He practiced medicine in Bedford from 1921 to 1948. Dr. R. E. Wynne, Lawrence county coroner, attributed Dr. Byers's death to a heart aliment. Dr. Byers had been in poor health since his retirement. Active in social and civic affairs of the community, Dr. Byers was a Veteran of World War I and a member of Gillen Post No. 33, American Legion. He also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he was a past deacon, the Indiana Medical Association and was past president of the Bedford Kiwanis Club. Ardent Sportsman In his younger years, Dr. Byers was an ardent sportsman, and spent much of his free time hunting and fishing. He was born March 19, 1895, at Oolitic, the son of Lincoln and Jennie Giles Byers. He married Elizabeth Trook March 15, 1922. Surviving are the wife; a son, Larry T. Byers of Bedford; two grandchildren, Bruce Porter Byers and Mary Tulley Byers, both of Bedford; two nephews, Gordon E. Byers of Bedford and Richard L. Byers of Oolitic, and one niece, Mrs. Horace Duncan of Needmore. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Dr. John L. Prentice of Paoli officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Cay & carter Mortuary after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday. SMITH SUCCUMBS William Howard Smith, 325 west Fifteenth street, Bloomington, passed away at 3:30 a.m. today at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Olin Stotts, at 506 Fourteenth street, Bedford. Mr. Smith, who was 50 years of age, had been ill for two years. He was born October 17, 1908, in Lawrence County to John L. and Clara Turner Smith. He married Ida Baker on February 11, 1929, and she preceded him in death April 13, 1958. He was custodian of the Metropolitan Schools of Bloomington. Surviving relatives include two brothers - Alva Smith and Virgil Otis Smith, both of Bedford; two sisters - Mrs. Rosie Hill of Freetown, Indiana, and Mrs. Agnes Nickless of Oolitic, and several nieces and nephews. One brother, Floyd, preceded him in death in 1950. Final rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary, with Rev. Thomas Bush officiating. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Hubert (Marjorie) Barrow, Bloomington; one son, Homer W. Armstrong, Golf Breeze, Fla.; one sister, Emma Ferguson Sears, Bloomington; three grandsons and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Quince, who died in 1959, and an infant son; one sister, Alma Ferguson, and by two brothers, Luther and Orth Ferguson. He had been ill since December 1978. Born on Aug. 22, 1916, in Martin County to John R. and Florence Cundiff Gee, he married Mildred Owens on January 18, 1936, and she survives. Mr. Gee was a truck driver with the Jefferson Trucking Co., Shoals, Ind and a member of the First Baptist Church of Williams. He was also a veteran of World War II. Surviving in addition to the wife are one son, Duane Gee, Bedford; one granddaughter and one grandson; three sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Mary Alice) Wagoner, Indianapolis; Mrs. Harold (Anna) Neideffer, Shoals, and Mrs. Woodrow (Vivian) Fox, of South Carolina; and one bother, John Gee, Jr., Chicago, Ill.
