She was preceded in death by one brother, Woodrow Hollen, four sisters: Mae Scott, Fern Hollen, Frances Davis, Lula McDonald, one grandson and one great-great grandson. Born Feb. 7, 1903, in Greene County, he was the son of Joseph and Della (Gardner) Freeman. He was a retired farmer. Survivors Include his wife: Adah Marie (Evans) Freeman; two daughters: Henrietta Carrell, Columbus, Ohio, and Joy Perry, Bloomington; three sons: Robert Freeman, Alonzo Freeman Jr., and Charles Freeman, all of Bloomington; one brother: Leo Freeman of Bloomington; one half-brother, Roy Bailey, Bloomington 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons: Vestal Freeman and James Freeman; two sisters, Maudeline Faris and Lois Bruce; one brother, Ellsworth Freeman, one half-brother, Guy Freeman, and two half-sisters. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Allen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Nichols and Bro. Gene Carrell officiating. Burial will be in Christian Cemetery at Springville. Born Feb. 26, 1922, in Marco, she was the daughter of Edgar and Sarah Clementine (Dover) Royal. She was a retired employee of RCA in Bloomington, and was a nurse's aide at Hospitality House. She was a member of Solsberry American Legion Auxiliary, and of the Greene County Historical Society. She also wrote articles for the Bloomfield Evening World. Survivors include her husband: Russell Robert Cox; three daughters Anita Hamlin Bloomington, Kathy Arthur, Spencer, and Helen Murley, Solsberry; two sons: Bob Cox and Don Cox, both of Sols- berry; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one half-brother, and one half-sister. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Jenkins Funeral Home, the Rev. Hurschell Joslin and the Rev. A native of Lawrence County, Mrs. Flora was born July 17, 1871, the daughter of Daniel W. and Melinda Bass Burgess. She was married to Ulysses G. Flora who preceded her in death in 1940. Survivors include two sons, Cleo and Shirley E. both of Mitchell; three daughters Mrs. Myrtle Quackenbush of Mitchell Mrs. Lilliam Edwards of Miami, Florida and Mrs. Lena Staggs of Indianapolis; one brother, Milt Burgess of Mitchell; one sister, Mrs. Stella Phipps of Huron; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren. DAILY TIMES MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA WEDNESDAY, MAY 12, 1937 DEATH CLAIMS GEORGE GILES Succumbed Tuesday Night At Dunn Hospital From Complication From Broken Hip George (Bazz) Giles, 82, who sustained a broken hip three weeks ago and who has been suffering with complications since that time, passed away Tuesday night at 11:40 o'clock at the Dunn Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past three years. Following death the remains were removed to the Day and Carter Funeral Home for burial preparation and were later taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. Etta Hennon of Oolitic, where funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. William J. Whaley of Bloomington officiating. Burial will be made in the Springville Christian cemetery. The family has requested that flowers be omitted. Mr. Giles, a channeler at the quarries, was born at Springville July 9, 1854, to John and Sarah Dixon Giles and at his passing was 82 years, 10 months and two days of age. He was married March 9, 1902 in Oolitic to Martha Helen Moore, who survives, He was a member of the Bloomington Christian Church. Besides the widow, he is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Eunice McDonald of Leesville, Mrs. Anna Canfield, Mrs. Jennie Byers and Mrs. Etta Hennon all of Oolitic, and three brothers, Matt Giles of Bedford and Fred and Alonzo Giles of Bloomington.

She had been in failing health several yeas and critically ill since May 5. She was born in Scott County, Va., Dec. 28, 1903, the daughter of Samuel and Laura Elam Nickels. She married George Lundy Aug. 11, 1923, and he survives. Also surviving are two sons, Douglas of Bedford and George Jr., of Pontiac, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. James (Jeanette) McCoy of Lakeside, Calif., and Mrs. Roger (Mary Lou) Mark of Poway, Fla., and six grandchildren. Five brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church of Microbe, Ky., and Pine Mountain Chapter 247, Order of Eastern Star, at Jenkens, Ky. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Banks Funeral Home in Neason, Ky. Burial will be in Hoston View Cemetery at Weber City, Va. Local arrangements were in charge of the Day & Carter Mortuary.

He had been ill since December of 1978. Born Dec. 29, 1927, in Lawrence County to Wesley and Audrey Anderson Hall, he married Phyllis Baker on Aug. 1, 1957, and she survives. An electronic technician at N.A.D. Crane, he was a member of the Oolitic Baptist Church and a veteran of the Korean War. Surviving in addition to the wife are the parents of Oolitic; four daughters, Sherri Ellen, Tammy Gale, Teresa Robin and Jenny Lee Hall, all at home; two sons, Michael A. Hall of Bedford and Timothy B. Hall of Springville, and five grandchildren. Twin sons, Harold Wayne and Gerald William II, died in 1966. Born Jan. 12, 1905, in Martin County to Oscar A. and Elizabeth Emmeline Mitchell Dye, he married Ruth Williams Oct. 20, 1931, and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Bart Dye, R. 3, Shoals; three brothers, Richard H. Dye, Indianapolis; Wilson Dye, Washington, Ind.; Alvin Dye, Rockville, Ind.; two grandchildren. He was a member of the Shoals United Methodist Church, in which he was a Sunday school teacher. He was a former Republican state senator, having service in the 1960's. Mr. Dye was a past master of the Shoals Lodge No. 332, F. & A.M., a member of the Red Cross of __nstantine, York Rite Chapter of Bedford; and he held the 33rd degree in Scottish Rite, Indianapolis Valley. He was a past grand patron of the Shoals Eastern Star, No. 368. He was past grand patron and past grand trustee of the Indiana Grand Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. He was the first secretary of the Davis and Martin County REMC, past president of the Martin County Farm Bureau, and past president of the Shoals PTA. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Shoals United Methodist Church with the Rev. Glen Youngblood and the Rev. Sam Ohanian officiating. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery. Born Sept. 10, 1892, in Bedford to Christopher and Mary Worthington Schmidt, he married Blanche Kendall on Nov. 11, 1916 and she survives. A member of the Methodist Church, Mr. Schmidt was manager of Bedford Lime and Coal Co. and later retired from Home Ice and Coal in 1960. Surviving in addition to the wife are one son, John D. Schmidt of Bedford, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The oldest of 11 children, he is also survived by two brothers and one sister. Born May 16, 1916, in Bedford to William and Bertha Trogdon McLaughlin, she first married Yancy Collins in 1935, and he preceded her in death in 1942. In 1947 she married Harley Fox, who survives. Surviving in addition to the husband are three daughters, Mrs. Les (Shirley) Tolliver of Anderson; Mrs. Nancy Davis of Bedford and Carolyn Beasley of Martinsville; two sons, William Fox and Harrison Fox, both of Bedford; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Raymond McLaughlin of Oolitic and Bill McLaughlin of Williams.
