He was an Army and Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and attended Mt. Olive Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons: Rusty Lee Brassine and Jay W. Brassine, both of Loogootee; his parents; three brothers: Larry Brassine of Kinston, N.C., Doug Brassine of Loogootee and Dean Brassine of Shoals; three sisters: Mrs. Bruce (Cindy) Kellams, Mrs. John (Sandy) Andis and Brandi Brassine, all of Shoals. Strunk, 71, 1121 Lafayette St., Oolitic, died at 1:12 p.m. Wednesday at Mitchell Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy Illness. Born in Tateville, Ky., he was the son of T. Fount and Mary Emma (Hardwick) Strunk. He married Ovalean Grubbs June 21, 1946 and she survives. He had worked in ordinance and demolition at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane and was a WWII Army veteran. He was of Baptist faith. Surviving with the wife are two Sons: Leonard Russell Strunk of Bedford and Michael Nolan Strunk of Greene County; five sisters: Mrs. Annie Conner of Springville, Mrs. Clara Thompson, Mrs. Nancy Stout and Mrs. Betty Baugh, all of Bedford and Mrs. Winnie VanSant of Mooresville; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Luther Strunk, Clarence Strunk and Orville Strunk; and one sister, Bessie M. Strunk. She was a retired school teacher in Lawrence County, she taught 20 years, served as the Republican's county vice chairman, had been the manager of the license branch and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Surviving are several nieces and nephews Including Stephen L. Ferguson of Bloomington. Two sisters Pearl Armstrong, Alma Ferguson, and two brothers, Orth and Luther Ferguson, preceded her in death.. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Day Funeral. Home in Bloomington where friends may call from 5 until 9 p.m. Wednesday. Graveside services will be at the Springville Christian Cemetery at noon Thursday. The Rev. Merla Craig will be minister.

Mr. Wray, who was retired, was born in Lawrence County October 24, 1919, to Odus and Lillian Hayes Wray. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church, and a disabled American war veteran of World War II He was a staff sergeant during World War II, flying 34 bombing missions over Germany as a waist gunner on a B-24 Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Fred (Pauline) Peed of Washington, Mrs. Fred (Esther) Lee of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. John (Edith) Kimbley of Buddha, and Mrs. Rufus (Janette) McGlothlin of Bloomington; and two brothers, Joe and Frank Wray, both of New Braunfels, Texas. Curtis, 71, an engineer and inventor and a former Bedford businessman. Mr. Curtis died Friday at his home in Indianapolis. While living in Bedford Mr. Curtis was president and general manager of Curtis Automotive Devices. He was also founder and chairman of the boards of Curtis Dyna Products Corp. and Cannel Chemical Corp. at Westfield Ind. Mr. Curtis had obtained over 100 patents on products, including aircraft fuel booster pumps; hydraulic pumps, vacuum pumps, pulse jet fuel systems and valves related to fuel, hydraulic and vacuum systems. A native of Portland, Oregon, he was a member of the Meridian Hills Country Club and the Columbia Club. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Cincinnati, and as a member of Tau Beta Pi honorary engineering fraternity. Surviving is the wife, Becky E. Curtis. Arrangements were under the direction of Flanner & Buchanan Mortuary.

Also surviving are one son, William Charles (Billy) Sims, at home; three brothers, Hiram Sims, Loogootee, Jim Sims, Indianapolis, and Jerry Sims, R. 1, Shoals; four sisters, Mrs. Wallace (Roma) Sims, Indianapolis, Mrs. John (Jo Ann) Walter, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Miss Carolyn Sue Sims, Indianapolis, and Mrs. David (Wanda) Fischer, Springfield, Va. Mr. Leahy was assistant secretary-treasurer of Triangle- Plumbing and Heating Corp. in Bedford. Born Feb. 22, 1943, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Robert M. and Mary E. Hodges Leahy. He married Janet Roberts on May 9, 1969, in Bedford and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Bobby, and two daughters, Melissa and Erica, all at home; the parents, of Bedford; two brothers, James R. Leahy, of Bloomington and Jack Leahy of Bedford; and the step grandmother Beatrice Sanders Hodges of Bedford. Mr. Leahy was a member of Avoca Baptist Church and the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local No. 136. Final rites will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ferguson- Lee Funeral Home with the Rev. He was born Jan. 6, 1907, in Orange County, to Asa and Fannie Brown Scarlett. On Nov 5, 1949, he married Ruby Pearson Roberts, and she died June 3, 1983. Survivors include one son, James Scarlett, R. 1, West Baden; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Jack (Carol) Reynolds, R. 1, West Baden; Mrs. Orin (Rebecca) Howerton, French Lick; two brothers, George and Bill Scarlett, both of Oregon; one grandson; six step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild. He retired from teaching school after 42 years and had taught in Orangeville, Orleans, Cuzco, and other rural schools in Orange County. He was also an electrician and carpenter, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Bethel Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethel Church, the Rev. Ananb Swarup, officiating.
