All Lawrence County researchers take notice of this message: Okay, it has been 20 minutes since I got your email concerning Mitchell funeral homes. I live in Mitchell and decided to take another approach to your information. The Mitchell Community Library has a great resource for information such as this. The obituaries that were printed in the local newspaper (Mitchell Tribune) have been indexed by surname by year from the 1880s by a researcher (Helen Ackerman) here in the Mitchell area who has spent obviously a great deal of time in compiling this information. So, with a call to the library, I have determined that James Sizemore, a city councilman, born Jul 28, 1866 in Lee Co., VA had his obituary printed in the May 6, 1915 edition of the Mitchell Tribune. I would suggest that you call or email the library and get the full obituary. Unfortunately, it does not list the funeral home nor the place of burial. You can reach the library's home page on the web directly at http://www.mitlib.org In the Mitchell Area Web Site http://www.mitchell-indiana.org/library.htm you may find more information as what resources the library has.
