    1. [INLAWREN] 1850??? or 1860 Lawrence Co. Census........
    2. Hello Sharon............ There is a Nathan OSBORN, age 35, B: Indiana, single and living with another family in the 1850 Porter Co., IN, Essex TWP, page 121-B......... However........ do you mean the 1860 Lawrence Co., IN census images????? The entry that you are refering to is Nathan OSLIM and his family........ Page #851, Family and Dwelling #'s 883........... Page #99 that you are refering to..... is the census takers numbering system....... In this case Alex ?? took the censusfor all of Marion TWP...... his page #'s are 1 thru 126........... The 851 page # is the numbers that were assigned in the office....... In this case census page #'s 753 thru 878....... the ones that are referred to in the census indexes........ Since you have mentioned Ancestry.com..... I assume that you are a subscriber........ Using their Census Index........ did you know that you have all kinds of options available....... i.e. you can search by "Given" name only........ Of course in using that method you probably would want to narrow down your search to a specific county...... Also.... you can do a search by page number only..... in the above case you will find Nathan OSLIM listed....... Don't forget to check the "Soundex" box when you're having problems finding the person that you are looking for........... My copy of the Lawrence Co., IN film is real clear....... I am using Heritage Quest Census Image CD's....... I have looked at lots and lots of films at the Seattle Branch of the National Archives..... Some of the films are great.... others just so so...... and yet others are next to impossible to read............ Heritage Quest has filtered out lots of the blotches, marks, etc..... Over all.... the Heritage Quest CD's are a lot better than using the microfilms......... Hope this helps and good luck........ I | viewed a dark copy of the census today put out by Heritage Quest in our | Morgan Co library. This copy was really dark around the edges, so I had a | problem reading page numbers and townships. | | I was looking for any Osborns and think I have found a Nathan Osborn, | carpenter, on that page ae 44 b OH with wife Katherine ae 34 b OH. | Children are John ae 14, Jane ae 8, Marion ae 6, and Kath(erine?) ae 2. If | this is an Osborn family, I may have found the Jane Osborn I've been | looking for who married Cicero Joseph Worthington in 1866. But I can't | tell for sure it is Osborn. And a Nathan Osborn is not listed on | Ancestry.com's census indexes. | | Any help appreciated! | | Sharon Mills | |
