hello everyone: i am the new list admistrator for the roots web lawrence co. site. i do not claim to be replacing rebecca because i am sure that would be an impossible challenge. i join you in wishing her well in all that she does. i have been a member of this list for several years so many of you are familiar to me. at least in the cyber sense. a little about me. i grew up in bedford and left there in 1963 after graduating from BHS and notre dame. forty years ago, i married carmella grecco from oolitic. we now live in fenton, mi. and are still very much in love. i am retired due to some health issues after a career with the general motors financial staff and carmella teachs third grade at our local parochial school. my genealogical passion is the murray family who settled in marion township about 1818 having migrated from randolph co. nc. i still own the last of the murray farm south of mitchell. for those of us list members who are a "little longer in the tooth" my father was marion "bunch" murray. dad worked at central foundry and "dot" murray was my uncle. dot was mayor of bedford during the great depression in thw 30's. many lawrence county surnames pic' my interest. sheeks, toliver, burton and finger just to mention a few. i look forward to working for you and hope that our time together is mutually benficial. if i can be of any service, please contact me at <[email protected]>. until needed, iwill be monitoring the electronic waves. find great joy in your work! allen murray
