BEDFORD WEEKLY MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA FRIDAY, AUG. 10, 1900 Mrs. Nora SNYDER, who had been visiting Bedford relatives, has returned to her home at Shelburn, Ind. Miss Myrtle EMBREE went to Bryantsville Saturday, to spend Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. EMBREE. S. L. KEACH and family visited relatives at New Albany over Sunday, and returned to their home in this city Monday. Mrs. F. T. SHERWOOD and children, who had been visiting relatives at Martinsville, Indianapolis and Bethany Park, returned home Monday. Miss Hattie STIMSON, who had been the guest of the family of A. A. LISTER for several days, left Monday for Heltonville to visit relatives. Mrs. Samuel TURMAN, of Shelburn, Sullivan county, is visiting the family of A. K. SEARS, and other relatives in this vicinity. Mrs. Edward BARLOW and children, and Miss Minnie STANLEY, of Mitchell, are the guests of Mrs. Wallace QUEEN, of North Bedford. Graham EARLE, whose show has visited Bedford several times, will open the theatrical season in Bloomfield Sept. 3rd, for a week's engagement. Frank GAGEBY, a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Ale HATFIELD, and who is City Engineer at Martinsville, had his feet badly mashed and a toe cut off in a digging machine, Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Gen. McMILLAN, who had been here visiting her brother, W. A. FOOTE, and friends, left Saturday for her home at Washington, D. C. Her husband, Gen. McMILLAN, has a position in the Pension Department at Washington, which he has held for a good many years. Pres. McKINLEY and Col. BRYAN will both be present at the great G. A. R. Encampment at Chicago, Aug. 26th to Sept. 1st. Also all the prominent veterans of the Civil War and the Spanish War, from South as well as North, who will not be prevented by active duty. HEIDE, of DOBBINS Bros., returned from New Albany Monday forenoon. Mrs. Charles RAGSDALE has been very ill of malaria for ten days past. Geo. C. CAMPBELL has been quite ill the past week, at his home on South M street. Mrs. J. W. MITCHELL returned Monday, from a visit to Mr. and Mrs. Homer FISHER, at Orleans. Mrs. Will PEARCY left Sunday for an extended visit to her children in Louisville and Jeffersonville. Miss Myrtle HON, who had been the guest of friends here, returned to her home at Mitchell, Monday. L. Montgomery, Trustee of Flinn township, was in town Saturday. Fred WRIGHT, of Campbellsburg, was in Bedford Friday, on business. Ed and Charles LEMON, of Guthrie, were in town Saturday. Mrs. Lula LAKE and son left Saturday to visit relatives at Heltonville. Robt. FLINN and wife, of Tunnelton, are visiting the family of C. H. ALLEN, West 12th street. County Auditor GAINEY has added a new bookcase to his office, to hold the transfer books. Elder J. A. FREED, of Saltillo, will preach at Leatherwood church, the 4th Sunday in this month. City Clerk W. M. DENNISTON, wife and son went to Heltonville last Friday, to visit Mr. DENNISTON's uncle, James S. DENNISTON, who is ill. Eli HENDRICKS and John LANE, of Heltonville, have been hauling material from Bedford this week, to be used in building a church at that place. Robert C. HOUSTON, who had been visiting his mother and other relatives here for several days, left Saturday for his home at Marion, Ind. Miss Nora EICH, who had been the guest of Mitchell friends who were fishing at Lawrenceport, returned to her home at Greensburg, Sunday evening. Miss Lenora PATTON, who has just finished the Teacher's Course at Danville, Ind., was here the guest of her cousin, Mrs. J. W. BEARD, on her way to Vallonia, Jackson county. Albert DENNISTON was in town Saturday, on his way from the Southern Indiana Normal College at Mitchell, to his home at Heltonville. He is a son of County Commissioner Wesley DENNISTON. The M. E. District Conference which was held at Ellettsville the first of last week, was said to be one of the best meetings of the kind held in several years. The preachers are all preparing for the General Conference, which will be held at Connersville, September 12th. The Bloomfield Democrat, owned by William M. MOSS since June 1880, has been sold to J. P. BARRON, of Troy, O. There are only two men in southern Indiana who have been connected longer with the press than Mr. MOSS. The Democrat, under his management, has achieved a success and reputation that comes to but few country newspapers. The party consisting of Maude DECKARD, Leah GILES, Hattie SIMPSON, Nell JUDAH, Miss LEWIS and Eddie LISTER, who had been with the camping party at Dunihue's Bend for over a week, have returned to this city. Misses Grace DODD, Bessie MITCHELL, Fannie OVERMAN; Mesdames Carrie PRIEST, Julia WALLHEISER, Frank HAMER, J. B. STIPP, Allie MESSICK; and Joseph CAMPBELL arrived home Monday from Bethany Park. John KLINE did well at the Osgood Fair last week, with his crackerjack outfit. He is at the North Vernon Fair this week and at the Madison Fair next week. The Osgood Fair drew good crowds, but was thin.
