    3. BEDFORD WEEKLY MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA FRIDAY, NOV. 23, 1900 James BLACKBURN, of Avoca, was in the city Tuesday. A. B. ANDERSON, of Indian Springs, was in town Wednesday. Dr. W. T. ELLISON, of Heltonville, was in the city Wednesday. A small child of Mac OWENS, is very sick with diphtheria. Calvin HARRIMAN, of Silverville, was in town Tuesday, the guest of friends. There are three cases of smallpox in the family of Henry BOWMAN at Vallonia. Mrs. Kate HOUSTON, of Erie, who has been sick for some time, has not been so well for several days past. Mrs. Q. E. HEATH, who has been visiting relatives here, has returned to her home in Monroe county. Eld. Bynum E. MARTIN, of Pekin, was in the city last Friday. He went to Springville Saturday to preach over Sunday. James LITTON, a soldier veteran from near Red Cross, was in town Wednesday, on his way to Bloomington to be examined by the Pension Board. Mrs. Jot TINCHER returned to her home in Crawfordsville Wednesday. She has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. G. W. NEEDHOM for the past year. Edward CAIN, of Heltonville, was in the city Saturday on business. BORN – To Mr. and Mrs. Jas. TINCHER, Thursday, a 10 pound daughter. Miss Gertie INGLE, of Pinhook, was visiting friends and relatives in this city. A marriage license has been issued to Noah HATFIELD and Estella BYERS. BORN – To Mr. and Mrs. James TINCHER, Friday, Nov. 15th, a fine daughter. Wm. COLE went to Leatherwood Saturday to attend the funeral of Peter McGUIRE. Claud COOK and Dr. H. H. BRAXTAN left Saturday for Bluefields, Nicaragua, on a prospecting tour. On Thanksgiving night the Stone City Club will give a dance in their hall in Oddfellow's building. W. G. HUBBARD, a monument dealer of Scottsburg, was in town Friday, and bought four carloads of buff stone. Misses Laura and Lillian HAYES, of Logan, Ohio, were the guests of Miss Bertie NEEDHAM North Lincoln street. Joe KEIFER, who has been working on the farm owned by Tobe HERT, went to Tunnel Switch Saturday to work. Mr. and Mrs. Mack SIMS and little son, who had been visiting James CHESNUT and family, have returned to their home at Indian Springs. Mrs. Sadie BENNETT, who had been the guest of Mrs. Geo. PARHAM, in this city for a few days, returned to her home in Seymour Wednesday. The Shoals News suggests David B. HILL, of New York, and Robert W. MIERS, of Indianapolis, as the Democratic Presidential ticket of 1904. Saul SWEENY, who had been working at McKINNEY's grocery store on the north side for some time, left Saturday, for his home in Campbellsburg. Aunt Nancy POPE, mother of J. R. POPE, who had been here on a two weeks' visit, returned to her home in Mitchell Friday morning. Mrs. POPE is 82 years of age. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis JONES, of Mitchell, were in town Friday evening, on their way to Heltonville to visit Mrs. JONES' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph TROGDEN. Deputy Clerk Boon LEONARD is at Paoli Wednesday, and Frank DONICA is at work in the Clerk's office during his absence, ***** Clerk CRIM being confined to his home by illness. Death of Dr. J. J. JOHNSON. Dr. J. J. JOHNSON died at Martinsville Sunday morning, of Bright's disease. The body was brought here at 4:33 Monday afternoon. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon at 2:30.
