    3. BEDFORD WEEKLY MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA FRIDAY, NOV. 30, 1900 The Lawrence County Teachers' Association will be held in the M. E. church Friday, Nov. 30th and Saturday Dec. 1. A banquet will be given in the basement of the church Friday night. The enrollment card will admit teachers to the banquet. All persons not teachers will be admitted to the banquet by paying 50 cents. A surprise was given to Julius HEITGER and wife Wednesday evening it being their fifth wedding anniversary. The guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Mike WALNER, Mr. and Mrs. James O'CONNELL, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. HEITGER, Mrs. Frank CARRICO, Mrs. Lizzie McMANN, Miss Emma HEITGER, Mrs. Kate HEITGER, Misses Nellie MOORE and Mary LEIGHTON, Messrs. Ed HEITGER and Kyden WALNER. NOTICE of DISSOLUTION. Notice is hereby given that the firm of T. L. BIXLER & Co. has this day been dissolved, Tabitha L. BIXLER and Chloe E. BIXLER retiring. The business will be continued by Frank BIXLER, in his name. TABITHA L. BIXLER, CHLOE E. BIXLER, FRANK BIXLER. Nov. 24, 1900. Miss Nannie DUNCAN is the guest of relatives at Bloomington. H. T. FIELDS and family are spending Thanksgiving at Williams. Miss Georgie DUNCAN is visiting in Bloomington for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. HELTON, of Bloomington, are visiting in this city. Miss Dorothy CALDWELL, of Salem, is in the city, the guest of Miss Lelia CONKLIN. Archie FERGUSON is the guest of Prof. Robert NEWLAND and Mrs. Helen LEWIS. Henry REATH and wife went to Salem Wednesday afternoon to spend Thanksgiving. Mrs. John A. HUNTER, of Bloomington, is the guest of C. H. STRUPE and wife. Miss Nellie MATSON, of Greencastle, is in the city the guest of Harry EMERY and wife. Frank QUACKENBUSH and wife went to Coxton Thursday, to visit relatives a few days. The next attraction at the Grand will be Fitz & Weber in a "Breezy Time" Dec. 11. Mrs. Henry SPLITGERBER, of Bloomington, is visiting friends and relatives in this city. Misses Avis GILES and May HITCHCOCK went to Orleans Wednesday afternoon to spend Thanksgiving. Miss Antoinette BENZEL, of Ellettsville, is in the city the guest of John HAASE and wife, on South H street. Hon. John DAUGHERTY, of Liberty, Mo., arrived in the city Wednesday, and is the guest of Judge W. H. MARTIN and wife. The Lawrence county Medical Society will meet at Dr. SHORT's office, Dec. 6, 1900. DR. STIPP, Secy. Prof. Robert NEWLAND arrived here Wednesday night, from Indianapolis to spend Thanksgiving and visit relatives for a few days. Dr. J. S. and Louisa M. EMERY are here from Leipsic, Ohio, visiting their brother, J. G. EMERY and wife and sons Dr. C. H. and Harry EMERY. T. J. BARLOW, Vice President of the Security, Accident and Sick Benefit Association, of Seymour, was in the city Wednesday, on business. Geo. P. SMITH and wife, of Louisville, are in the city, the guests of Joe COLUMBUS and wife. Mr. SMITH is Chief Clerk in the Monon office at that place. Harry M. SMITH and wife, of Ellettsville, are in the city the guests of A. A. LISTER and wife. Mr. SMITH was formerly employed at W. A. WEBBS' Trade Palace. Misses TRIPPET and HAMERSLY, who are attending college at Bloomington, were in the city Wednesday, on their way home in Washington, to spend Thanksgiving. There is a movement on foot by leading farmers of Indiana to have a law enacted at the coming session of the Legislature, making it illegal for hunters to shoot quail on land owned by other persons and declaring that quails are poultry and entitled to the same protection and rights of ownerships as chickens, turkeys, etc. The law will be a good one and ought to be in force. The Court-house was filled Thursday, to hear the Thanksgiving services of the First Christian church. An eloquent sermon was preached by Eld. SMALL, fine music was rendered, and a collection of $10 taken up for the poor. Bert BOTTORFF, who is attending college at Bloomington, came down Wednesday afternoon. He left this morning for Courtland, Ind., accompanied by his sister, Miss Effie, of this city, where they will visit relatives a day or two. In the window of the Racket store is a large candle, measuring about four feet in length and six or seven inches through. The person guessing nearest the correct time it takes the candle to burn will receive the handsome dinner set in the window, which is Havlin china. Robert N. PALMER and daughter Miss Craigie, Miss Cora NEWLAND and Mrs. Laura CARESS went to Sullivan, Ind., Wednesday night to attend the reunion of the NEWLAND family, at the home of Mrs. Kate PARKS, of that city. ATTENTION G. A. R. The annual election of Post officers and representatives to the Department Encampment will take place at the first regular meeting in December. E. C.
