There was no "_" in front of the name on the one I received. It seems to create it's own subject line. Mine said something about a Prodigy CD and Outlook Express so I thought it was something "Official" as I'm a Prodigy subscriber. : ( It just zipped right in because I hadn't update Norton for 8 days! YIKES! It's gone now, but I'm not retrieving my mail through Outlook Express for a while. I'm using the Prodigy Mail Link. --- Original Message --- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: [INLAWREN] New Virus >I too got the computer virus that Pat was talking about. I too got the computer virus that Pat was talking about. And it came from another Rootsweb subscriber. I received it this morning, I agree that it is being sent through email address book. There is a way to detect it. If there is an _ in front of their email address for example:_Reuban16 and it shows an attachment, that is the virus sending itself. If you open it, you will spread the virus. I spent today getting rid of it, and if anyone on the list received anything from me, I am truely sorry and I have gotten rid of it. But this virus moves fast and is being sent before you even know you have it. So please be careful. Thanks, Lisa
Unfortunately with this one you don't even have to open the attachment. I never open one from someone I don't know and it slipped in right past my Norton A/V because I hadn't downloaded the updates for 8 days. Once you have your a/v software up to date, and have your "Auto Detect" enable to scan incoming e-mails it will alert on this one. But, if you're not current, it'll get past it. --- Original Message --- From: <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Subject: [INLAWREN] Ref those weird "E-mails".... > > >TO: Pat........ > >DO NOT OPEN ANY ATTACHMENTS....... without you first contacting the sender >to verify that they had sent you something........ To Kate.......... I just received an e-mail from you that had an attachment....... My Norton Anti Virus software alerted me....... Janet
It is weird - I just got an e-mail from somebody. The subject line was this mail group. There was nothing but an attachment and it said "Me Nude" and ended in SCR. I have no idea what is happening. I have a friend looking for Sarah and Margaret Sumpter. In the 1870 census for Spice Valley Twp Margaret is enumerated with A. Southland and wife, Rebecka. She is 14 at the time. Margaret was born ca 1858 in Mo and died in 1919 in MO. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Suzanne
Is anybody out there doing research on the name Proctor? The Proctors lived in Lawrence County (the eastern part - around Fort Ritner) in the 1800's. It starts with Ezekiel Proctor, who married Nancy Carothers (spelled various ways). Ezekiel and Nancy were married in Jessamine County, KY in the early 1800's. Nancy is the daughter of James Carothers, who is a Revolutionary War veteran, buried in Jessamine Co., KY. Pat
A good friend noticed that, in yesterday's post, I gave the wrong date for the marriage of Jane Osborn and Cicero Joseph Worthington. Instead of 1855, the marriage occurred in 1866, following Cicero Joseph's Civil War service. The other dates are correct (for Harry S Osborn and Nathan Osborn). Thanks, Sharon Mills
Hello Listers, Several of you have been very helpful in helping me to eliminate who could NOT be related to Jane Osborn who married Cicero Joseph Worthington in Lawrence Co in 1855. I'm still considering as relatives Nathan Osborn who married Mahala Perkins on 16 Mar 1861, and Harry S Osborne to Annie S McCormick on 10 Jun 1877. Does anyone know about the families of these men? Thanks, Sharon Mills
These names were on same page #204 as the surname PROSSER, sent to me from the Lawrence Co. Historical-Genealogical Soc., Bedford. IN. No titles were at the top of the page, so you'll have to figure out if the other names are parents, family, witnesses or what? Also, don't know if occupation is for bride/groom or parent! Hi Chuck, (and I will CC it to the original list you enquired on - Monroe, and also to Lawrence Co list, in case there are other researchers on these names there) Don't know why it bounced - received other requests, and an email from you, too ---internet goblins at work, I guess! The 1840 census is not broken down by location within Lawrence County - they are all lumped together, so I do not know what location everyone is in. I found a JOHN F. WALKER on pg 232A with the following inhabitants: Male: 1 x <5y; 1 x 20-<30y Female: 1 x 15-<20y; 1 x 20-<30y There were no other Walkers or Greens near them - I suppose not unusual given his occupation in newspapers - he would have gone where there was a newspaper job opportunity - not farming near other relatives but not to say there were not other family in the same county. Other WALKERs in Lawrence County in the 1840 census: Pg 184A: Charles WALKER Male: 2 x <5y; 1 x 30-<40y Female: 1 x 5-<10y; 1 x 20-<30y Pg 195A: Guy WALKER Male: 1 x <5y; 1 x 10-<15y; 1 x 50-<60y Female: 1 x <5y; 2 x 1-<10y; 1 x 10-<15y; 1 x 20-<30y; 1 x 40-<50y Pg 199A: Eli WALKER Male: 1 x <5y; 2 x 5-<10y; 2 x 10-<15y; 1 x 40-<50y Female: 1 x <5y; 2 x 10-<15y; 1 x 30-<40y GREENs in Lawrence County 1840 census: Pg 202A: Alex GREEN Male: 1 x <5y; 1 x 10-<15y; 1 x 15-<20y; 1 x 30-<40y; 1 x 40-<50y Female: 1 x <5y; 2 x 5-<10y; 1 x 30-<40y; 1 x 40-<50y Pg 216A: Nathaniel GREEN Male: 1 x 20-<30y Female: 1 x 50-<20y Pg 217A: Thos. Is there anyone out there who could look and tell me if there is a will in Lawrence County for a John Sutton. I'm not sure when he died but I think it was sometime between 1830 and 1850. I'd appreciate any information I could get on this man. Thank you! Lena __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Find a job, post your resume. http://careers.yahoo.com
Who is in charge of Tunnelton cemetery? My husband and I were there today. His great grandparents were Joseph and Huldah (Dandridge) Allen, whose tombstone is toppled and in several pieces in the far left corner of the cemetery over the top of the hill. Beside them is a stone for Joseph Allen, 5 NC Mil, which is small and intact. We believe we can repair the stone, having watched Walt Walters repair similar breaks at the cemetery workshop held in Morgan Co recently; however, I don't want to make any changes before alerting whoever is charge. We also need to _try_ to get rid of the yucca that is crowding/damaging the stone. There must have been some vandalism in that cemetery in the past few years, as it has more damage than I remember from another trip. Perhaps a Lawrence Co group may want to have a repair workshop to benefit more than just this cemetery. Sharon Mills
In 1952 there was a K. Martin Plummer Funeral Home on Lincoln Ave in Bedford. I just looked in the Yellow Pages for funeral homes in Bedford and found the Day & Carter Mortuary on Lincoln. Can anyone tell me if Day & Carter took over the Plummer Mortuary? Also, do you think they would still have the records from 1952? Thank you for your help. I am seeking anyone having any information on Stephen Harris b. abt 1829 d. 1874 in Edgar Co IL. He was married to Martha Vangilder. Some of their children were: Della, Thomas, Harriet/Hattie (Davis), Morgan, Susan (Nolan), John H. Harris. I have reason to believe that Stephen's father was Morgan Harris b. abt 1797 VA. Stephen is buried in the same cemetery (Reed-Sugar Grove in Edgar Co IL) as my gg grandfather, Andrew Jackson Harris (who was born abt 1830 in Lawrence Co IND), and I am wondering if they could have been brothers. They were very close in age also. Please contact me personally if you have any information on the ancestors of Stephen Harris. I have more descendants of Stephen and Andrew. Thank you for your help. Looking for more info on this family. The ones that are below the line are exta ones that someone might be interested in so inclulded them in this note. Any one know any thing about them. William and Melinda are married and I found them in the 1880 Lawrence Co. census. It appears that James and Sarah are my 3rd great grand parents. Their daughter got married right before this census in Lawrence Co. and then moved to Green Co. with her new husband William H. Bea. They later moved on to Missouri where he died in the civil war. She remarried and moved to AR and then to OK where she died in 1916. Her name was Louisa Jane Bell and she was born in 1832. Would like info on the others if they fit into the sceam of things.
