Looking for information regarding the death or grave site of Thomas Lightfoot REYNOLDS who supposedly died in 1830 in Lawrence County. Thomas was born 1762 in NC and married Nancy HENDERSON on Sep 23, 1818 in Blount Co, TN. Thomas was a farmer and possibly a surveyor. Children of Thomas and Nancy: Jonathan Henderson, Christopher, Jacob, Mary, Samuel, Catherine, and Robert. Robert REYNOLDS, my gg-grandfather was born Feb 1, 1828 Lawrence Co, IN, died Oct 7, 1886 Guthrie Co, IA, married Leanna HOOPINGARNER Mar 15, 1849 in Lawrence Co. After Thomas died, Nancy married William GUTHRIE, and William died a year and a half later. The 1850 Lawrence Co, IN census shows Nancy as head of household with Jonathan, Robert, Leanna. In 1855, Nancy moved the family, along with several other families from Lawrence Co. to Guthrie Co, IA. The 1860 Guthrie Co, IA census shows Nancy Guthrie (age 66) living in household of Robert REYNOLDS and Leanna, along with Jonathan. Nancy died in 1864 and is buried in Guthrie Co, IA. **************************************************************** Carolyn Johnson-Burns [email protected] http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/4023/ Researching: BELL BROCKSICK COMPTON CRITTON HENDERSON HERR HOOPINGARNER JOHNSON LIGHTFOOT MORGAN NICKEL REYNOLDS SAUVAGO SMOUSE STOKER ****************************************************************

Actually, that post went to a number of different sites. You, like I, are subscribed to many of them--Rush Co, Henry Co, Lawrence Co. Morgan Co Orange Co and probably others. Kathy is just trying to get the word out to all the lists she is on That is the purpose of rootsweb. No need to take offense when someone is trying to contact their family lines. Hello Philadelphia URGENT REQUEST!: Now that we are over the holidays, This years is our 350th Anniversary of the landing of the Swartwout family in North America. The name has many variations such as Swarthout, Swartout, Swartwood, Swathwood, Swarthwood etc. We need help in gather lines, pictures, articles, wills, what ever you have stashed in your attic. We would really appreciated it if you shared with us what you had, there a literally thousands of us here looking for our roots, looking for connections. For our 350th Anniversary we need to updated our list of folks out there that are descendants somewhere along the line of any of those variations. We also have a family newsletter that cost only $5.00 per year, a real bargain. Just send it your mailing address. Every day I get e-mail asking me for help. Up here in Canada, there were two brothers that had huge families, all the remains of their descendants are the female sides. All the male went back to the States. I'm am the maintainer of "The Updated Swartwout Chronicles" People submit their lines-ged-coms etc. and I just drop them into the data base. It is everyone's database. Each person is responsible for their own submissions. It is not copyrighted. Kathy [email protected] [email protected]

Hi Abram Jones married Laura Bell Golden in Lawrence County in 1868. They had 2 children Lue Ina and Ralph R. According to Abram Jones pension records, he owned a saloon that was ransack by a mob and was shot in the leg. According to him because he was going to testify at the trial of another Jones who shot to death a Mr. Moody? I was wondering if there was anything in the newspapers about the incident, or the trial. Thank you for any information Sincerely Kim Liljequist
The list has been pretty quiet, so thought you might enjoy a little German humor. This is a poem I found in front of a history book at the Guthrie County, Iowa genealogical library: The Puzzled Census Taker "Got any boys?" the marshal said To a lady from over the Rhine; And the lady shook her flaxen head, And civilly answered, "Nein!" "Got any girls?" the marshal said To a lady from over the Rhine; And again the lady shook her head, And civilly answered, "Nein!" "But some are dead?" the marshal said To a lady from over the Rhine; And the lady shook her head, And civilly answered, "Nein!" "Husband of course?" the marshal said To a lady from over the Rhine; And the lady shook her flaxen head, And civilly answered, "Nein!" "The devil you have!?" the marshal said To a lady from over the Rhine; And the lady shook her flaxen head, And civilly answered, "Nein!" "Now what do you mean by shaking your head, And always answering 'Nine'?" "Ich kann nicht Englisch!" civilly said The lady from over the Rhine. by John Godfrey Saxe (1816-1887)
