    1. Re: [McCollum] James McCollum/McCallum
    2. WOW, you hit that right on the nose, almost! What a detective you would make. Now I know about when my g grandmother, Daisy moved to Indiana. BTW I was born in Hammond, IN. Daisy (my g grandmother) did marry Nathan Oliver SMITH and the children took on his last name. However there was an arrangement to the marriage that was to marry for the sake of both of their children to provide a stable home for them. However Nathan had gotten drunk one night long before he met Daisy and he cut off his sr*$&%^ I believe in grief of the loss of his wife and child due to child bearing reasons. He had a son and wanted to provide a home. But after years of feeling guilty for the arrangement he wanted a divorce with Daisy, she reluctantly gave in and let him have a divorce. So when she married a Grant McGLAUGHLIN he was said to be the love of her life. After Grant died his brother Ed McGLAUGHLIN had promised to look after Daisy and Phillip. Phillip was her daughters (MaryEllen HARTLERODE) sons who she adopted after her death. His father died at age 50 of some kind of tumor. Frances is my grandmother and she just passed away a little over a year ago. She also had a sister called MaryEllen who died of an auto accident I believe in Indiana. I have been unable to locate her grave in IN. I think she kept her married name which would have been HARTLERODE. She was going to reconcile with her husband right before her death. How sad. So if anyone can give some light on her grave site that would be appreciated a lot. She died when she was in her 20's I believe. MaryEllen was born Jan. 11, 1912 in Prescott, MI as far as I know and she died in IN. I know she is buried there but where I do not know. So like I said you hit it on the nose. It's just I haven't been able to find anything about James S. McCallum and his family. It looks like if he was born in Michigan then there should be a record of his parents and siblings. But even in my search it was hard to find anything. I did find Daisy as a child, as her maiden name was BROWN. But to find anything about James and his parents I have not turned up anything. Thanks again for all of your kindness and information. I really appreciate the trouble you went thru. God Bless Pam
