    3. The Lake County Times Indiana July 3, 1919 Pioneer North Side Settler Passes Away On Tuesday, July 2, at the family residence, 240 Towle Street, Mrs. Richard JENKINS Sr., passed away. Mrs. JENKINS had been sick for several weeks and began failing on Sunday June 20th, when she continued to grow weaker until the end came July 2nd. Mrs. JENKINS has been a resident of Hammond since 1887, coming to this city from Bellaire, Ohio, and living for a short time on Logan Street and then moving to the north side, the family having lived for a number of years and then moving to Towle St. She has been a resident of Hammond for practically thirty-two years, and was well known and loved by a large number of friends and neighbors in that part of the city. Mrs. JENKINS was born on the 5th day of January, 1846, in North Wales, England, being at the time of her death 73 years and six months of age. She was a quiet and unassuming woman, but in all the years that she had lived on the north side she was always kind and sympathetic. She was a woman who loved her home and lived to raise manhood and womanhood three sons and one daughter as follows: Mrs. H. E. JONES of East Chicago Richard JENKINS, Jr. of North Hohman Street, Hammond Thomas JENKINS of Chicago Edward JENKINS of Windsor Park Chicago Seven grandchildren and one brother in North Wales The following daughter-in-laws and son-in-laws mourn her loss. Mr. H. E. JONES Mrs. Elizabeth RIPLEY JENKINS Mrs. Selma HOLTZ JENKINS Mrs. Olive ANDERSON JENKINS The grandchildren being: Mrs. Grace JENKINS GAVIT Agnes JONES Herbert JONES Beatrice JONES Salina JENKINS Esther JENKINS Edward JENKINS Jr. A faithful wife and companion, a kind and loving mother, a fond and indulgent grandmother, a good and true neighbor and friend has gone and in her going the family will miss her and the friends and neighbors will also miss her. Mrs. JENKINS was an earnest Christian woman, being a member for years of the Hebran Welsh Calvanistic Church in Chicago. Undertaker Stewart is in charge of the funeral which will occur at the home on Friday. Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery.
