The Hammond Times Indiana 5-2-1963 HAMMOND GI IS MONOXIDE VICTIM IN KOREA PFC Joseph John SABO The April 21st death of a Hammond Soldier in a South Korea Village today was described as a result of accidental asphyxiation due to casrbon monoxide by military authorities. PFC Joseph SABO age 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph SABO of 6807 Northcote Avenue, Hammond, Indiana, was found dead in the South Korean Village of Ose-Ri, 10 miles west of Seoul. The village is near Ascom City where the private's unit is stationed. A 1958 graduate of Hammond Technical Vocational High School, PFC SABO was formerly employed at Al's Meat Market in Hammond. He had been ib Korea for seven months and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. Fife Funeral Home in East Chicago. Services in the St. John Bosco Church in Hammond. Burial in the St. John Cemetery in Hammond.
