I lived at 510 Buchanan. Streets West of Broadway were named in the order the Presidents were elected. Watch out for Roosevelt and Roosevelt Place in Toleston. I lived at 1205 Roosevelt Place. Streets East of Broadway were named in order of the states as they entered the Union. Lake Michigan was 1st avenue. The avenues run all the way south through Merrillville to the Old Lincoln Highway.
