    3. The Vidette-Messenger Indiana Jan. 7, 1952 Daughter Of Pioneer Dies Mrs. Melna L. DAVIDSON, 79 lifelong resident of Porter county and the youngest daughter of a pioneer of this area, died today. She had been in ill health for the past three years and in critical condition since suffering a heart attack two months ago. She had resided at 909 Jefferson at the home of her daughter Mrs. Laurence SCHNEBELT. The decedent was the daughter of Truman SKINNER, who came to Indiana in 1836 with his parents and settled in Liberty Township. There he secured a homestead which he cleared, having held the original patents to the land. Mrs. DAVIDSON was the youngest of 11 children born to Truman and Sarah (JOHNSTON) SKINNER. Her 10 brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She was married to Herbert M. DAVIDSON in Valparaiso, Dec. 23, 1891. Her husband died in 1946. To this union were born six children, two of whom died in infancy. She was an active member of the First Methodist church, Valparaiso. Survivors: Daughters: Mrs. Roscoe (Myrtle) MEAD Mrs. Laurence (Evelyn) SCHNEBELT Mrs. Louis (Martha) PAHL, all of Valparaiso Son: Cecil K. DAVIDSON of Valparaiso 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Services Wednesday at the Bartholomew Funeral home. Rev. Oliver Startn pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will officiate. Burial in the Graceland cemetery.
