The Vidette-Messenger Indiana August 22, 1933 Darius P. BLAKE, Son Of Porter County Pioneer, Is Dead At 83 Darius BLAKE, a member of the Porter county bar association, and for many years a justice of the peace, died this morning at his home in Portage Township, Porter county. He had been in serious condition for more than a week. The decedent was born in Porter county, on Dec. 30, 1850. His parents were members of that advanced guard of civilization that came to Porter county when the county was first established in 1836. For many years, Mr. BLAKE was one of the large land owners of Portage Township, but when Calvary cemetery was established a number of years ago, sold a large amount of acreage for this project. Survivors: Sons: Otto, Arthur, Arba, Charles and Lee BLAKE Daughter: Mrs. Lawrence SCOFIELD, all of Gary Services Thursday at the family home, with burial beside his wife in the Calvary cemetery.
