The Vidette-Messenger Indiana Feb. 9, 1961 Obits Chesterton Fred RUHE, age 84, 210 Calumet, died Wednesday afternoon in Gary Mercy hospital after an illness of six weeks. He was born in Babcock, Ind., Aug. 31, 1876, the son of William and Fredeucka (KUHL) RUHE. On Nov. 14, 1900, in St. Patrick's church in Chesterton, he married Clara SCHAPER, who survives. RUHE was a retired employee of the E. J. and E. railroad where he had been employed as a maintenance man in the Kirk yards. He was a member of St. Patrick's church, Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. Surviving besides the widow: Son: Edward of Chesterton Sister: Mrs. Anna WHOLEN, Wauwosatu, Wis. Six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Services Saturday in St. Patricks with Rev. Ralph Hoffman officiating. Burial in St. Patrick's cemetery. Carl Edmunds Funeral Home.
