The Hammond Times Indiana May 28, 1940 Rites For "Grandma" BRANDT The funeral services for "Grandma" BRANDT, as she is familiarly known in this community, was held on Saturday from the Sacred Heart church of Whiting, with Rev. George Moorman officiating. Internment took place in St. Joseph's cemetery in Hammond. Mrs. BRANDT, who was born in 1843, making her 97 years old, passed away on Wednesday at St. Catherine's, where she was confined for the past seven weeks due to a broken hip which she sustained from a fall in her home. For the past 17 years "Grandma" made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Joseph CRAMER, and family of Myrtle Avenue. She is survived, besides Mrs. CRAMER, by: Daughters: Mrs. Anna SEITER Mrs. Elizabeth BOSS Brothers: Joseph and William BRANDT, all of Dayton, O. The funeral was attended by relatives from Ohio, Chicago and Hammond.
