The Vidette-Messenger Indiana August 29, 1938 Mrs. Merritt CORNELL, 87, Succumbs To Thrombosis Death claimed a Porter county pioneer Sunday noon when Mrs. Merritt CORNELL, aged 87, died at her home in Boone Grove of thrombosis. A resident of this county all her life Mrs. CORNELL was born Feb. 6, 1851, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. HOUSE and was married Dec. 25, 1873, at Boone Grove. She was a member of the Boone Grove Christian church. Survivors: Daughters: Mrs. Marion DEYOUNG of Chicago Mrs. Pearl C. MACFARLANE of Chicago Daughter-in-law: Mrs. Bess CORNELL, who resided with her. Her husband preceded her in death in 1911. A son Lorin died in 1924 Grandchildren: Herbert C. DEYOUNG of Chicago Mrs. Herbert V. KOHLER of Kohler, Wis. Services Wednesday at the Boone Grove Christian church, with Rev. M. G. Long, former Boone Grove pastor and now of Thorton, Ind. officiating.
