    3. The Vidette-Messenger Indiana Dec. 1, 1931 Birthday Dinner For Civil War Veteran At A. R. PUTNAM Home The home of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. PUTNAM was the scene last evening of a happy birthday dinner honoring Mr. Charles DOTY, father of Mrs. PUTNAM and Mrs. Ida COOK, who gave the party for their father. Velma COOK and Alfreda PUTNAM, granddaughters, served. Following the dinner the guests spent the evening in reminiscences, guessing riddles, reciting tongue twisters, and singing old songs. Members of the Grand Army of the Republic and officers of the Sons of Veterans were guests. It was interesting to learn that the average age of the Civil War veterans present was eight-six and one half years. Those present: George S. HASTE of Co. C, 138th Indiana Volunteers Jacob MOOKER of Co. H, 128th Ind. Volunteers and Co. D. of the Veterans Reserve E. M. BURNS, of Co. G., 15th Indiana Regulars, as later in Co. B. of the Fourth U.S. Veteran Volunteers and is likewise a son of Veteran, his father having served officially in the Battle of Gettysburg Jesse CASBON of Co. D, 178th Ohio Volunteers Valentine KRETLEY of Co. E. 13th U.S. Infantry Charles DOTY of Co. I, 23rd Illinois Veteran Volunteer Infantry, known as the Irish Brigade Harry ALBERY Julius BORNHOLT, officers of the Sons of Veterans.
