They have the Y&W Drive-in listed, and a few other areas in northwest indiana. Kathy Lost Indiana http://www.in.net/~mcdonajp/lostindiana/index.html As the classic Tin Pan Alley song says, "When I dream about the moonlight on the Wabash, then I long for my Indiana home." Created and maintained by John McDonald, a local historian and photographer, this Web site is a tribute to the lost and disappearing landscapes and sites that are important parts of Indiana legend and lore. The site contains a number of profiles of disused and abandoned structures around the state, such as the massive Sheraton Hotel in downtown Gary, and the former Market Square Arena in Indianapolis. One particularly fun feature of the site is a profile of the Crown Hill cemetery in Indianapolis, which is the third largest public cemetery in the United States, and the last resting place of Benjamin Harrison and Edward Black, the youngest person to serve in the Union Army. The site concludes with a selection of other relevant links to other sites, including the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. --------------- Firstmom's Genealogy Resources http://khuish.tripod.com/ Lake County IN GenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~inlake
I remember in the 1960's going to the Y&W Drive Inn and in the late 1960's working at the playground one very hot, humid summer. Ah, brings back the smell of the mosquito repellant fog - DDT, I believe. Anyone in the area, or from the area have any information on the parents of a Cloie Alice CLARRIDGE, born Oct 30, 1882 in White Co., IN, died c1968 in Lake County, IN. She was married to a James E. HINSHAW. Cloie parents were William CLARRIDGE and Mary BALES. William was born, I believe, Nov. 16, 1852 someplace in OH. but died Mar 6, 1925 someplace in Indiana . Anyone know this William Clarridge? thanks. Ed Crabtree >From the State of Missouri in the USA [email protected]
