I have had a request from an elderly cousin who has no access to a computer. In fact, she gets the sweats even thinking about turning one on. She has been thinking about a friend of hers from a very long time ago and would like to make contact with her or her family. All the information she could remember, during a short conversation last night before she left town is as follows. Now remember we are talking a long time ago and memories sometimes are cloudy with time and age. I am only relaying information she remembers, as she remembers them, that might help someone recognize this lost friend. She is looking for a Myrtle, maiden name unknown who married a Joseph Grimmer. Myrtle would have been born sometime around 1920. Before she married Joe, circa mid-to late 1940's, Myrtle worked in an establishment in Calumet City as what could be described as an exotic dancer, going by the stage name of Lee, or something like that. This is where she met Joe. When they married she left dancing, became a very religious Pentacostal church goer. Myrtle and Joe had at least two daughters. Donna Jo born c.1948 and Nanette born c. 1950 both in Indiana; possibly in or around Lake Co., IN. During the years around 1952 to 1956 she lived in the East Gary area, and was a seamstress making wedding gowns. During the years from 1956 to unknown they had moved to Miller, IN; sometime after that and before 1971 they might have moved to either Idaho or Nebraska. It had been said to my cousin that Myrtle was living in Phoenix area in 1971. She was also told, years ago, that Joe had been killed in an auto accident. She does not know when or where. My cousin AND Myrtle apparently have been moving around alot and lost contact with each other many, many years ago. If any one knows Myrtle or her children, please contact me so I can put my cousin in touch. By the way, does anyone remember such establishments in Calumet City where exotic dancing and the like went on - probably late 1930's or early 1940's? Thanks, so much for any help.
