The Vidette-Messenger Indiana Jan. 16, 1948 North County Farmer Dies Chesterton, Indiana Services for Herman MICHAELS, Sr. 82, old time Chesterton resident, who died Wednesday at his home, will be held Saturday at the Edmond's funeral home. Rev. Albert Beutenmueller, of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church, will officiate. Burial in the Chesterton cemetery. The decedent was the father of Mrs. Mayme LANE, wife of County Clerk Freeman LANE, of Valparaiso. Born in Germany, Jan. 8, 1866, MICHAELS came to the United States in 1880. On Nov. 6, 1887, he was united in marriage to Augusta STUEBNER in St. Paul's Lutheran church, Porter, Ind. They made their home in Chicago for three years and then came to Porter county to reside on a farm near Chesterton. For 55 years he was engaged in farming in Westchester township.
