The Hammond Times Indiana April 27, 1943 Meet The New Jitterbug Champion; George VUCICH Policeman George VUCICH was limping today but he succeeded in a noble achievement last night at the annual dance sponsored by the East Chicago Police. VUCICH snatched the Jitterbug title from Policeman Dan BELZESKI and did'nt miss a dance during the entire evening. VUCICH's chief competitor was Patrolman Walter ZURAWSKI, who also uses his feet to patrol the East Chicago four corners each day. "That boy certainly was 'cuttin the rug and kickin' the dust." said ZURAWSKI, who had to be satisfied with second place.
