The Hammond Times Sunday July 28, 1957 Mrs. Eva SCHMITT Feted on 90th Birthday A family celebration honored Mrs. Eva SCHMITT on her 90th birthday recently when the long-time Hammond resident was feted at a Glenwood Ill. restaurant. Present for the celebration were her daughters, Mrs. Fern DEBOLD, with whom she resides at 700 152nd St. Calumet City; Mrs. O. J. PREVO and Mrs. Frank SOLNER of Hammond, and her son William LAUERMAN of Hammond. Also attending was Mrs. Nell LAUERMAN of Calumet City, the widow of another son, the late Fred LAUERMAN. Mrs. SCHMITT has 25 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. A native of Cook, Ind., the elderly woman resided in Hammond for 55 years. She was the 16th child in her family. Still in excellent health, Mrs. SCHMITT worked for many years as a practical nurse for Dr. William D. WEIS in Hammond, assisting in the delivery of many babies. She was also well known as a matron at the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. in Hammond.
