The Hammond Times Indiana Nov. 30, 1951 Obits Member of a pioneer East Chicago family and midwife there for many years, Mrs. Elizabeth DROZDY, 58, of 4840 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, died in her home yesterday after a short illness. Mrs. DROZDY was a member of the SHAFFER family, one of the first to settle in the Twin City. She had lived there all her life. As an obstetrician, she conducted her own clinic for 25 years. She was also active in social and civic affairs. She was a member of the Auxiliary of Allied? Post 369, American legion; Council 8185, Royal Neighbors of America; Group 132, Polish Women's alliance and the Rosary Society of the St. Stanislaus church. Survivors: Daughters: Mrs. SETMAYER, East Chicago Mrs. Julia MAZUREK, Chicago Sons: Walter and Thomas DROZDY Edward MARKOVICH, all of East Chicago Brothers: George SHAFFER, Hammond Louis SHAFFER, Whiting Joseph SHAFFER, Hamlet, Ind. Sisters: Mrs. Anne TAYLOR of East Chicago Mrs. Stella SMITH of Moosehart, Ill. Lesniak Funeral Home, East Chicago. Funeral services Monday in the Chapel with rites in the St. Stanislaus church, Msgr. Julian Skrzypinski will officiate. Burial in the Holy Cross cemetery, Calumet City.
