The Lake County Times Indiana Oct. 12, 1918 Hobart Mr. Phillip ROPER, Sr., who has been suffering from heart trouble for the past 8? years passed away at his home east of town, Monday, aged 71 years. He has lived on a farm near Hobart since the year 1856?. He is survived by a wife and four sons Ernest G. ROPER of East Gary Messrs. Phillip Jr., Robert and Luther of this place. Funeral services were held yesterday at his home and were in charge of the Macabees of which he was an active member. Rev. Lawrence of the M.E. church, officiated. The internment was at the Hobart cemetery.
