Walter D. HUTH of Gary. They are: Walter L. WRIGHT, 5514 Beal Avenue, Hammond, who was assigned to the Air Corps at Maxwell Field, Ala. Stanley J. TOKARZ, Whiting, to 39th Infantry, Fort Bragg, N. C. Vincent J. BOBIN, East Chicago, to the Air Corps at Maxwell Field James W. CHAMPION, also of East Chicago, to the 39th Infantry.
The Hammond Times Indiana Feb. 3, 1946 Obits Peter TERRE Requiem High Mass for Mr. TERRE, 86, of 29th Place, South Chicago Heights, retired grocer and merchant, will be offered tomorrrow in the St. Ann Catholic church, Chicago Heights. Mr. TERRE died Friday morning in the St. James Hospital, Chicago Heights. A native of Schererville, Mr. TERRE came to Hammond in 1880 and had a retail business here until 1906, when he moved to Chicago Heights. His wife Barbara died in 1935. Survivors: Sons: J. W. Lake County Times Indiana Feb. 26, 1907 Obits Crown Point Mrs. John BEERK of this city, the mother-in-law of ex-superintendent of the County Poor Farm BIXMAN, died of old age at her home in Crown Point yesterday. Mrs. BEEK was 80 years old at the time of her death. She was a well known and much respected woman. Spellings of BEEK and BEERK were taken as spelled in the newspaper.
Lake County Times Indiana March 6, 1917 Obits Mrs. Barbara HANLON, wife of Capt. George HANLON of the Hammond Police Force, was found dead late yesterday afternoon in the kitchen of her home at 431? Becker Street. Mrs. HANLON was an invalid and had been ill of melancholia. She was 29? years of age and is survived by: Husband: George Sons: Lawrence and Vernon Daughter: Eveyln Capt. HANLON has been a member of the Hammond Police Force for seventeen years. Funeral to be held Thursday in the All Saints church with burial in the Calvary cemetery.
Lake County Times Indiana March 6, 1917 Obits William DEMBO, well known in Gary and Lake County sporting circles, died suddenly in his room at the Victoria Hotel, Gary, early this morning. Mr. DEMBO was 52 years old. His remains will be shipped to Boston by undertaker P. C. Finnerty, where the DEMBO family resides. Diabetes is said to have caused Mr. DEMBO'S death. He was up and around and had taken luncheon in the Saratoga Cafe at 2:30 a.m.
The Hammond Times Indiana Nov. 4, 1937 Obits WILDERMUTH is called; one of Gary pioneers One of Gary's first business men, Oliver Perry WILDERMUTH, aged 79, died yesterday in his residence at 960 W. 11th. Avenue from a paralytic stroke suffered two weeks ago. He settled in Gary in 1908, two years after the United States Steel corporation began to construct its gigantic plant there. He first opened a hay, grain and feed store, but later transferred to the real estate business as the town began to boom with the expanding steel mill. WILDERMUTH won a fortune in Gary real estate. He also was one of the city's outstanding democratic leaders for years. The decedent was the father of Fred. O. WILDERMUTH, real estate dealer The uncle of Ora L. WILDERMUTH, Gary's first school teacher Joseph H. WILDERMUTH , Gary architect The widow Eva, also survives WILDERMUTH came to Gary in a horse and wagon from Royal Center, Ind., his birthplace, accompanied by his brother, Elias WILDERMUTH, the late father of Ora and Joseph WILDERMUTH. Services will be held in the chapel at 675 Adams Street Saturday. Rev. W. F. Switzer, assistant pastor of City Church, will officiate. Internment will be in Mount Hope cemetery at Logansport near WILDERMUTH'S old house.

The Hammond Times Indiana April 30, 1937 The John GOVERTS Wed 60 years Saturday Mr. and Mrs. John GOVERT, who have been married perhaps longer than any couple in the county, will observe their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday with a church celebration at St. Joseph's church. This pioneer couple were both born on farms south of Dyer where their homesteads joined. Mrs. Mary GOVERT, age 80, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton RIETMAN, born on the place now known as the Tony RIETMAN farm. She had five brothers and five sisters. Her mother, who died about 10 years ago, was 89 years old. Mr. GOVERT, who is 82 years old, was born on the homestead which was later purchased by the Peter KLAUSEN family. In the spring of 1877, May 1, they were married and settled on a wooded plot which they cleared and on which they built their home. They started farming, it is reported, with some cows and chickens given them for a beginning. To Mr. and Mrs. GOVERT, 11 children were born, all of whom are living except two. Their children are: Mrs. Mary MARGRAF of Michigan City, Ind. Mrs. Caroline ENSWEILER, of Steger Sr. Laurent of South Dakota Sr. Philathea of Freeport, Ill. Mrs. George HELD of Dyer Bernard GOVERT of Hammond Joseph of Spivy, Kansas Edward GOVERT of Dyer Alphons GOVERT, of Box Elder, S. D. Fourteen years ago the couple sold their farm and moved to Dyer where they have resided ever since. On their 50th wedding anniversary they celebrated by having open house to all relatives and friends. Up to the present time, Mr. and Mrs. GOVERT both have been active in attending church services and have been equal to doing their own household tasks. Both are widely known as they resided in Dyer the greates share of their lives.

CHILLA Mrs. Andrew PUNCHO? both of Whiting Brothers: Steve, Michael and Andrew KUBECK, all of Whiting John of Chesterton Mrs. STRAKA, a resident of Whiting 43 years, was born in Czechoslovakia. She was a member of the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters, the First Catholic Slovak Union No. 81, The Rosary Society and the Altar Society of St. John's church. She and her husband were one of the founders of the parish. Services Thursday from the residence and from St. John's church with Rev. John Kostik officiating. Burial in the St. John cemetery, Hammond.
