Does anyone have access to a City Directory for any year during the time period from 1923 - 1930? I am trying desperately to find my grandmother, who supposedly died in Gary between these years. Thanks! Kevin Miller
Thank you to everyone that has emailed me regarding the In Lake site. It appears that my messages take a couple of days to reach it. cheryl BALOG wenberg san diego

To all, Today I received copies of the passenger list from the Edwina, they arrived December 3, 1848. My Austgen's are on this list. I would like to transcribe this list with the correct surnames but, I'm going to need some help. If you have German's in Lake County that arrived about 1848, they could be on this ship. take care, Debbie
I am testing to see if the site has been active or not. I am not receiving anything from In-Lake. cheryl If you get this please email me ....don't know if it is my computer or the site. Thank you very much.

If you will be in the Chicago area in early April, you may be interested in the following all-day program at the Newberry Library: Washington, DC-based speaker Eric G. Grundset (Director of the Daughters of the American Revolution Library) will present four informative topics. For a fraction of the cost of a trip to DC, you'll come away with greater knowledge to use now or in the future. There's still time to register for the annual Friends of Genealogy workshop Saturday, April 5, 2003 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM · Planning A Research Trip to Washington, DC Tips from a native on the best times to come, what to bring, how to plan. · DAR Member or Not This Library Is For You Mr. Grundset is Director of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Library. He'll show you how his library is much more than Revolutionary War records. For instance, it was one of the places Alex Haley used in his research for Roots. · Virginia and Her Daughters Records for early ancestors in Kentucky, Ohio and many Midwestern states may be hidden in records of Virginia. Learn whats available from a past president of the Virginia Genealogical Society. · How Old Did You Have To Be? Knowing how old one had to be to get married, witness a will, or be apprenticed can bring a whole new light to your research. These ages differed over the course of American history. Cost: $75; includes gourmet box lunch and admission to exhibitor areas. Become a member of Friends of Genealogy and pay $40 for the workshop and $50 for a year-long membership ($90 total). E-mail [email protected] or call 312/255-3510 to reserve your place. Visa, MasterCard and American Express accepted. Discounted parking is available while space permits at the 100 West Chestnut Street garage (entrance on Clark Street). Parking tickets must be validated at the Newberry Library lobby kiosk.
I have the Jay GERO family in 1910 and 1920 but they have completely escaped the 1900 census so far. Would someone have their whereabouts in an index or city/area directory, or anything around 1900? Thanks RC in Texas
Is there anyone out there researching SZANYI or SANEA. This particular family lived on Melville St. in the 1910 and 1920 census. Joseph, Mary, Michael, John and Andrew. Thank you, cheryl BALOG wenberg san diego
Would anyone be willing to do an obit lookup for me at the library? It is for Mary Kocur Marciniak died 1933 in East Chicago. I am thinking that the Hammond Times would carry the obit. I am sorry I don't have the month she died. I know it is asking a lot, but I am stumped. We have searched all of the local cemeteries but haven't found her yet. Many thanks. Carolyn

Sorry for the double or triple sending of this, something is wrong with aol. Not that that's anything new! Plus I am kind of testing to see if I will get mail in return as some of the other lists I'm on have disappeared and it may have something to do with aol's attempts to cut down on spam mail.
