The Vidette-Messenger Indiana Nov. 23, 1931 Obits Mrs. Augusta LANE, age 75 years, widow of the late Samuel LANE, and mother of Deputy Sheriff Freeman LANE, died this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hans RHODA, 307 East Institute Street. Death was due to an attack of pneumonia. Mrs. LANE was born in Germany, coming to the U.S. when a girl. For many years she resided in the Kouts vicinity, but moved to Valparaiso about twenty years ago. Survivors are eight children: Mrs. Edna RHODA Mrs. Pearl MILLER Freeman LANE Leo LANE, all of Valparaiso Floyd LANE of Kouts Guy LANE of Kouts Mrs. Jennie DAVIS Bernard LANE, both of Morocco, Ind. Services Wednesday from the RHODA home, conducted by Rev. C. M. Smail, of the Christian church. Burial in the Kouts cemetery.
The Vidette-Messenger Indiana Nov. 23, 1931 Obits 96 year old Veteran dies Fabian MATTOTTE, age 96 years and 10 months, Civil War Veteran and pioneer Westville resident, died this morning following a heart attack suffered yesterday. He was ill but one day. He was born Jan. 6, 1835, at Coopersville, N. Y., and at the age of 13 came to LaPorte County, where he has lived ever since. Prior to the Civil War times he drove a stage coach between Valparaiso and LaPorte. He was a member of the 9th Indiana Company H Infantry. He was married to Amanda RAY, January 24, 1865, a LaPorte. His wife preceded him in death three years ago. Survivors: Sons: J. C. MATLOLTE T. F. MATTOTTE Chester MATTOTTE, all of Westville One daughter passed away in 1896. Services Wednesday from the home of J. C. MATTOTTE at Westville, Rev. C. V. Roush of Morroco, Ind., will be in charge. Burial in the Westville cemetery. Different spellings of surname were taken directly from the newspaper.

The Lake County Times October 4, 1918 Death of Mrs. Emil LAUERMAN Mrs. Emil Lauerman died this morning at her home in 413 Drackert St. of pneumonia developing out of Spanish influenza. Her husband, a Calumet avenue grocer, is seriously ill of Spanish influenza. Mrs. Lauerman is survived by her husband, three children, her mother and five brothers. The children are Evelyn, Earl, and Wallace, the mother, Mrs. Nora COSGROVE of Erie Street, and the brothers Frank and F.A., of Hammond; Joseph and William of Marion, Ohio and Patrick of South Chicago. Mrs. Lauerman had been a resident of Hammond for eleven years coming to Indiana from Clarence, Ia. Lillian Neff married Jerome J. Fitzpatrick in 1898 Delaware Co., Indiana. I can only find the family in 1900 Center twp, Delaware Co. Indiana. The children were: Josephine, Mildred, James, Fay (male.) Lillian Neff was the daughter of William Henry Neff and Helen Fulton. She supposedly died 12 Feb 1928, but I couldn't find an obituary for her in the Muncie paper. Her brother Arnea Edward Neff d. 1937 in Lake Co. and her sister Nellie Neff Surber died there in 1940.
