It's been awhile since I'm participated in this list. I'd like to repost my quest. I'm searching for information on two people. The first is Emily LEWIS. This is what I think I know about her: Olmstead LEWIS, b. 1799-1800, NY probably mother or grandmother was an OLMSTEAD/OLMSTED res. 1830, Clarence, Erie, NY res. 1840, Greenfield, Lagrange, IN res. 1850, Bloomfield, Lagrange, IN res. 1860, Perry, Noble, IN 1st wife's name unknown, d. 1840-1850, Lagrange m. (2) 24 Oct 1854, Lagrange, Hila Ann REYNOLDS not in any IN census index after 1860. Died? Left state? not in any 1870 census index period, although name often misspelled & missed Children: Emily LEWIS, b. 1820-1821, possibly Collins, Erie, NY; m. (1) Unknown LADD. Daughter Emily J. LADD, b. Jul 1850. M. (2) 17 Oct 1854, Lagrange, Anson CLARK; son William David CLARK b. 1859, Lagrange; family moved to WI. At least one other daughter older than William living in WI in 1930's. unknown daughter b. abt. 1823 Eliza Ann, b. abt. 1825-1826, possibly the one b. 22 Apr 1826, Hempstead, Nassau, NY; m. m. 12 Apr 1840, James M. SPRAGUE, b. 13 Sep 1812, Granville, Essex or Washington, NY, s/o of Beriah SPRAGUE & Tamer CHAPIN. Daughters: Lucretia SPRAGUE (b. abt 1841) and Emma J. SPRAGUE (b. abt. 1845). Wait (male), b. abt. 1829, NY, living with father in 1850, gone in 1860, does not appear in the 1860 IN census index anywhere. Robert, b. abt. 1835, NY, with father in 1850, not 1860. I do not find a likely candidate in the 1860 IN census. George, b. abt 1838, NY, with father in 1850, not 1860, not likely candidate in 1860 IN census. Lafayette, b. 1840-1, Lagrange, with father in 1860; m. 12 Aug 1866, Noble Co., Emeline REYNOLDS. Not in any IN census index thereafter. Candidates in AL in 1870 & TX in 1880. The other person is Anson CLARK, Emily Lewis' husband. I find no trace of Anson CLARK in Indiana, except for one down in Sullivan, then Vigo Co. who is definitely not my fellow. The closest I come is a 25 year old laborer in the 1850 census of Hancock Co., IL, who lists his birthplace as Indiana. But which CLARKS were his parents? I've been looking for Anson for 20 years; so any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Aloha, Kathleen Choi
