    3. I want to correct a statement from this list several days ago. Brenda wrote: --------------------- The family sheet I received from Helen Lightfoot Treesh in Feb 1998 was prepared at an unknown date by: Jeane Hostetler (formerly of Pierceton, IN), 815 N. Highland, Indianapolis, IN 46202 (Joan Hostetler in current phone book at this address; phone 639-2814). It lists the wife of William Lightfoot (?-1852 MO) as Hester Kelley (1812 OH-1852 MO) & says she was the dtr of William Kelley & Sophia (scratched out & Sultana Summey handwritten above). Sources cited are the Summey family history and Census of Lee Co., Iowa, Dist. 29, page 482, Oct 24, 1850. --------------------- William Kelly's (Kelly not Kelley) wife was Rebecca--not Sophia or Sultana. Here is the information I have about the William Kelly family. I'm descended through William and Rebecca's son Henry P. Kelly. I have sources and more dates and anecdotal information that I won't bore the list with, but would be glad to share with others who are interested. WILLIAM KELLY b. ca. 1793 - d. 12 Apr. 1849 Married REBECCA ? b. ca. 1796 - d. 1 Mar. 1839, bur. Oakwood Cem., Warsaw William may have been born in Pennsylvania (according to son Henry's 1880 census record). Wm. was in the War of 1812 and possibly lived in Jefferson Co., Ohio before moving on to Wayne County, Ohio, and then on to Kosciusko Co., Wayne Twp. in 1834. Rebecca's maiden name has long been a mystery to me. Family tradition has it that their son Henry's middle name was PITTENGER and that he was named after his mother's family. While Pittengers lived in all three counties that William lived in, I've not found a definate connection. Another good possibility is SAPP. A William Kelly married Rebecca Sapp in Jefferson County, Ohio on Dec. 22, 1814. He was an early county Kosciusko Co. commissioner. On 19 Apr. 1847 he married Mrs. Sophronia Myrick (b. ca. 1816, well known by pioneers in her early years as a school teacher, obit. states that her 1st husband was MERRICK, her last husband was Wallace. On 13 Dec. 1855 a Sophronia Kelly m. Thomas BRAYTON--was this William's wife? If so, she had 4 husbands.) Known Children of William and Rebecca Kelly: 1. HESTER KELLY LIGHTFOOT (b. ca. 1812 - d. 1852, Missouri or Iowa?) m. 19 Jan. 1836 William LIGHTFOOT (d. 1852, Missouri or Iowa?) (In 1840 they were in Livingston Co., Missouri; in 1850 in Lee Co., Iowa. Children were: Mary [m. Lanson W. Summy], Rebecca Jane [m. Thomas Edmond], John, George, James William [m. Hulda Elizabeth Stinson] and Henry C. [raised by Henry P. Kelly, epileptic, d. in county infirmary) Does anyone know what Hester and William died of in the same year? Their orphaned children returned to Kosciusko Co. and were raised by aunts and uncles. In 1981 Ruth Darkwood of Milford showed me a wonderful photo album with portraits from this branch that I would like copies of. I understand that she has passed away; does anyone know what happened to her photos and genealogy papers?) 2. JOHN KELLY (b. ca. 1818 - d. before 1860) m. 25 July 1839 Christine ASH m. 2nd 18 mar. 1847 Mary PITTENGER "Aunt Polly" (d. 16 Mar. 1892, buried Packerton Cemetery) (Children were Samuel, William, Rebecca A., Agnes E., Daniel, Henry, Ester/Hester?
