    3. Another thought: Remember that all of these mailing lists have archives, so you can do a search to see if anyone has ever sent a query on that name. I believe the Url is http://cgi.rootsweb.com/surhelp/srchall.html Or try http://www.rootsweb.com/~maillist/ then click on maillist search and type in the exact name of the list, such as INKOSCIU (it may also require the -L. Haven't used it in awhile, but if one way says no match found, try to alternate one.) Lash, born Jan. 1840 in IN (do not know where). Found her & sister Marie/Mary (b 1843 in IL) for the first time in the 1850 IL census living in the home of James and Margaret Bryant. When I checked the 1840 IN census, this is what I found: Philip Lash in Kosciusko Co............. John Lash in Kosciusko Co.............. >> Hi Zeta, I think we may have communicated before. Philip LASH is my gggg-grandfather and John is his presumed brother. Philip had no daughter named Margaret. John did have a daughter named Margaret, however, she was born Jan 1, 1836 in Wayne Co., Ohio (d. Oct 1854). I don't know her middle initial. Not likely, but is it possible that you have the date and place wrong? Both Philip and John lived in Ohio before going to IN and there were several LASH families that stayed in OH. In 1840 there were LASHes in other IN counties. Have you checked those? There were LASHes in Noble, Johnson, Clark and Wayne counties. The LASHes were a prolific family as were many back then. If you have been reading the LASH-list, you have seen how confusing it all can be. There were several LASHes in IL also. My own gggg-grandmother Susannah Stecher LASH, wife of Philip, died in McLean Co., IL. That might be another place to look. Also, have you checked land records? There were several LASHes listed on the ILL federal land records database. I do not know of any connection to the BRYANT family in my LASHes. [ yet ;-) ] Do you know anything more about Margaret besides her birth info and sister's name? Maybe more clues would help other people recognize her. Your best bet would probably be on the LASH-list. Just keep posting periodically--new people join all the time. I don't know if I was any help--but good luck.
