    3. Pat, The transcription of a census primarily involves the reading of a copy of the National Archive microfilm and inputting each piece of information into a computer. I will be sending out to volunteers the copies of the census for a township at a time. We will be working our way through the 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910 and 1920 census. Quite a major task. But broken down by year, by township, the task becomes less overwhelming for each volunteer. The copies of the census I will be sending are of pretty good quality for the most part. The trick is in deciphering the handwriting. I would like the census entered into a spreadsheet. Preferably Microsoft Excel, but Microsoft works spreadsheet files and Appleworks spreadsheet files are also ok. I will send each volunteer a template file to begin the census transcription. I can send the file on floppy disk or via the internet, whichever you are most comfortable with. I already have the 1900 and 1870 copies made, but I'm waiting to start the project with the 1860, since this would flow with the 1840 and 1850 we already have on-line. If you are interested in participating, please send an email directly to me. And if there are others of you out there who would also like to participate in this project, please let me know. Thx...
