I love that census. One of the best censuses to read is the Whitley Co, IN one for 1860 or 1870. I can't remember which one it is, but it has comments on the people written in the margin by the census taker. It says things like " Sharp as a tack" or "Never shuts up" or "pinches a penny" If you have anyone in that county, you MUST look at this census. Unfortunately my people had no comments. I was looking through Whitley Co because it is not indexed in the older 1860 IN indexes. The new everyname index includes Whitley Co but not the older indexes. I would remind anyone using the older indexes that most states have several counties left out. Most of the omitted counties started with the letter W. It is probable that the original databases on CD ommitted some counties because they didn't have room for all of them on a CD. Later CD's simply continued the error. June
