In reply to Karen Anderson and others who have asked about my Hoover line: At this point I am not sure about what line you want to call it. My Gggggg grandfather was a man named Jacob Hoover. In cir. 1798 he moved from Pa. probably Lancaster Co. to Haldimand Co. Ont. Can. and pretty much established the town of Selkirk Ont. Can. he took with him his sons and daughters and their families. The sons of Jacob Hoover were Abraham, David, Benjamin, Daniel and Christian. Jacob Sr. 1729-1810 was probably Swiss born, as the family was Mennonite. Abraham 1772-1831 had a daughter named Mary.1800-1889. Mary Hoover married Mathias Yeager 1790-1857. Mary and Mathias moved from Haldimand Co. Ont. Can. cir. 1852 to Kosciusko Co. Indiana. I believe some of the Canadian Hoovers moved to Indiana also, but at this point I am not sure who they were. I hope to know more after my research trip. The Canadian Hoover's may be related to the Hoovers who were in Blair Co. Pa. and Stark Co. Ohio. The relationship may be from brothers of Jacob Sr. who moved west from Pa. I know the Hoovers in Blair Co. Pa. were either Amish or Mennonite at that time, but I believe the Hoovers in Stark Co. were German Reformed or German Baptist. It is also possible that there is no relationship at all between the Ohio Hoovers and the Canadian Hoovers. The children of Mathias and Mary Hoover Yeager were: Magdeline 1826, Samuel 1828, Abraham 1830, Ephriam 1830,(twins) Andrew 1832, Susannah 1834, Lydia 1836, Mary 1839, Elizabeth 1841, Joel 1844. Mathias also had 4 sons from his first wife, Catherine Kestler. They were Silas, Leonard, John, and Benjamin. These 4 were born in Pa. the children of Mary and Mathias were all born in Canada. On the 1860 census the Canadian born children show a birthplace of West Canada. I hope this clarifies any questions about my Hoover line Jackie Nobles
