My Smith family came from Stark Co. OH. Joseph SMITH and Mary TOM had several children born in OH (Isaac, John, Caroline, William) and came first to Huntington Co. IN by about 1847. They were in IOWA in the mid-1850's where two more children were born (David Allen and Jane) then moved back to IN and were in Elkhart Co., on the 1860 census. By 1870 they were settled near Syracuse, Turkey Creek Twp. William Franklin Smith was my great-grandfather, and married Caroline RAPP in 1879, dau. of Jacob and Sophia (Starris) Rapp. I also have great-grandparents John L. GREGG (born in Butler Co.) and wife Mary Magdalene CREAGER (born in Warren Co. OH). They married in Darke Co. and settled near Milford. Their son, William went to Oklahoma to homestead but didn't stay long.
