    3. Ryerson is another name for HILLCREST Cemetery located in Washington Township, Kosciusko County, Indiana. Hillcrest is located at the intersection of county roads 700 East and 350 South near State Road 13 south of Pierceton. It was given to be used as a cemetery by George W. Ryerson. ----- Original Message ----- From: <3dwwths02@sneakemail.com> To: <INKOSCIU-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 28, 2003 11:28 AM Subject: [INKOSCIU] Ryerson cemetery > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Goodrich > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mh.2ADI/501 > > Message Board Post: > > Does anyone know where this cemetery is? > Also, What Civil War unit did most of the boys join from Kosciusko?(North) > Thanks > > > ==== INKOSCIU Mailing List ==== > Kosciusko Co, IN USGenWeb site http://www.rootsweb.com/~inkosciu/ > >

    1. [INKOSCIU] School children enumerations
    2. Marjorie Priser
    3. SCHOOL CHILDREN (& other children) ENUMERATION There is a series of microfilm at the jail museum library that might be helpful to some researchers. There is no index available, but look-ups & copies may be possible. The original records were submitted to the county by the trustee of the township, usually in the month of April or May. The first column enumerates the "Parents, Guardians, Heads of Families, or persons having charge of child or children" The second column : "Names of Children Enumerated 3rd - 6th column: "Date, Age and Place of Birth" (of the child) 7th column: Occupation. (State whether the child attends school, is regularly employed or unemployed ) 8th column "Years of schooling completed" 9th & 10th column -- gender, male or female 11th column: No. of School District 12th column: No. of Congressional District 13th - 15th columns --misc. The time period of the records is from 1896 to 1924. Nearly every year is represented for all townships. Each township is kept together, but surnames within the township are listed by school district, not alphabetically. If you are interested in requesting data from this type of record, please contact me. Marge Priser mapriser@maplenet.net We are in the process of working out the details of this look-up, so please be patient. THANKS!

    1. [INKOSCIU] Another great resource: Obit Indexes 1960-1980
    2. Marjorie Priser
    3. Several years ago, Doug Mayer, long time member of the Genealogy Section, compiled 4 5-year obituary indexes that are extremely helpful for the years 1960 to 1980 for the local newspaper, Warsaw Times Union. At the present time, we can't put the indexes on the Kosciusko County web site, but coordinator, Gene Andert has put a special heading on the web page (under Obituaries) for an index look-up service for those 20 years. If you have a particular look-up during those years, the Genealogy Section Research Assistant, Tina Buchman (buchmangen@insightbb.com ) will check the appropriate index for that person. Please do NOT ask for a general look-up (i.e. "all the Jones who died during those 20 years"). Be as specific as you can be. For a small fee, Tina will read the newspaper microfilm and mail copies of the obits that you may want to request. Thanks in advance for your support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Historic Clunette http://www.clunette.com YesterYear in Print http://yesteryear.clunette.com Wallace, Vandermark, Priser genealogies http://genealogy.clunette.com
