Surnames: WOODDEN, LINN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/mh.2ADI/259.1.1.1 Message Board Post: You replt quickloy- and I worried if the email would still be current :-) I wrote to your email too, just in case you did see this post. The Catherine mentioned in this obit is Catherine LINN. She was James WOODDEN's second wife. His first wife was Catherine SWERER. They were married 29 Jan 1825 in Preble County, Ohio. James was born about 1806 in VA. I don't know yet how he came to Ohio. James had at least 5 children with his first wife before she died of typhoid fever on 29 Aug 1852 in Harrison, Kosciusko, IN. He married the Catherine mentioned in the obit on the date mentioned in it (so it was about 4 months later). James and this second Catherine had a daughter named Martha S. Woodden (aka Mattie) who was born abt 1853 in Kosciusko County (probably in Harrison). Mattied married Joseph C Blickenstaff and is the Mrs J C Blickenstaff mentioned in teh obit. James Woodden came with Andrew Sell from Preble County to Kosciusko County about 1832, and were the first white settlers in Harrison Township. I don't know if there are any clues to help you there-- were your Eckerts in Preble county that you know of? Perhaps Catherine LINN's mother was an Eckert? Or maybe a sister married an Eckert? I will keep looking, and will let you know if I learn anything! Susan :-)

    3. Or a dollar or two spent on "flowers" from Wal-Mart....that's all it takes. There are graves near my family members' graves that I never see anyone visit and never see flowers on them. Why not? And if someone would happen on the grave of Carrie Margaret Stewart in Syracuse, I'd be ever so grateful if you'd stop and thank her for me. She's my g grandmother and I've never seen her grave. Shirley ----- Original Message ----- From: Kathleen Burnett To: DEKENT-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, June 24, 2003 11:13 AM Subject: [DEKENT] Memorial Day - Lonely Graves For those of you who are visiting the cemeteries and graves of your loved ones, your ancestors this weekend and have a few extra flowers, think of placing them on one of the lonely graves which are never visited. Or, if you are living in an area where you have no one, think of visiting a cemetery and placing flowers by one of these lonely graves. I live in Logan Utah and tomorrow I will be visiting several local cemeteries and will be placing flowers on graves. Over the past years I have adopted these graves, these people and I hope that someone out there is doing the same for my loved ones. This is the day to remember those who came before us, who forged the paths that we now walk. 2. Referring to Moore Maps Map of Kosciusko Co., just outside Sidney but in Monroe Twp., there is a cemetery sitting back from the west side of CR700E between CR850S and CR750S. (I know this is not Spring Creek Cem. since it is on the east side of the road). Per the map it looks like there might be a lane to connect it to the road. Does anyone know name of this cem. or who might be buried in it? Could it be connected to the Eel River Congregation Church on the corner of CR750S and CR700E? Does anyone know who I might contact for records of the afore mentioned church? Thanks for any help. J.Elaine Merrick, member Pioneer Families of Kosciusko Co, IN

    3. The birthdate given for Benjamin (in your query) is same as marriage year--1829. It appears you are showing three children born abt. 1835 ??? You can find loads of information on the Kos. Co. web site. Census records for the county are transcribed 1840 thru 1870 along with marriages, obit. indexes for certain years, etc. If you scan down to the Pico Search window and type in your surname it will show every place on the site that they are found.
