    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mh.2ADI/617.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi: In 1850, Jacob B. Funk, born about 1811, was a farmer in Clay Township, Kosciusko County with real estate worth $1,800. He was 39 years old. He and Catherine were married in Ohio in about 1840. With George Gall, he was joint administrator of the estate of his wife's father in Stark County, Ohio. Date of birth calculated from his tombstone was 04 December, 1809. There were three children in the Funck household in 1850: Sylvanus, James, and Delila. There were two other Funk households in Clay Township in 1850, living side by side. The first was headed by Jacob Funck the elder, a 65 year old farmer born in Maryland. The second was headed by George Funk, a 25 year old farmer born in Ohio. The elder Jacob was widowed, with seven children still at home. An individual International Genealogical Index Record on Family Search identified a Jacob B. Funk born 02 Aug 1811 in Stark County Ohio as the son of Jacob Funk, senior. Jacob Funck Senior was also living in Kosciusko County in 1960. The FamilySearch record identified the wife of Jacob senior as Mary Bowers. On Gencircles.Com, I found record of a man who may have been Jacob Funk Senior, born 08 May 1785 in Lancaster County PA [not Maryland]. His father was also Jacob Funk, and his mother was Elizabeth Musser. I have lots of information about descendants of Jacob and Catherine Funk. They had seven children. Judy

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mh.2ADI/630 Message Board Post: I didn't post when this thread started, but thought I should add some families now that it has been revived. Nearly all the children and widow of an Elias Ritter of southern Stark Co (Bethlehem Township) came to Kosciusko in the 1840's and 1850's. It is unclear if Elias himself made it from Stark before he died, but his wife (Christina Grindle) is buried in Tippecanoe township. There were also some Grindle families that may have been related, and a son-in-law, Peter Stametz, who made the same migration. These families seemed closely allied with some northern Tuscarawas Co., OH (Lawrence Twp) families who also moved to Kosciusko (Hamman, Mock, Stiffler, etc.)

    1. [INKOSCIU] Eliza Jane "Jennie" WALKER (nee PAXSON) (aka McNEAL)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: WALKER, PAXSON, McNEAL, HAWORTH, EDINGTON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mh.2ADI/627 Message Board Post: I am looking for Jennie WALKER, who came to Kosciusko Co, IN, late in life. Yes, she really was known by all those names at some point. Born Eliza Jane PAXSON in MI in 1858, she moved from there to Jay Co, IN, where she lived until 1878, when she married Enos WALKER. The couple had 5 children (Lucy, Amanda, Leota, Nina, and Benjamin) in Jay Co before moving to Montpelier, Blackford Co, IN, in about 1890. The following year, they moved back to Jay Co and then separated (they later divorced in 1896). Jennie moved to Wells Co, Blackford Co, and Grant Co, before settling in Winona Lake in 1920. She seems to have died prior to the 1930 Census, but I can find no record of her death. (Much of the trail of her life comes from Enos' Civil War Penison Records.) Jennie's daughter Lucy seems to have also lived in Winona Lake. Lucy and her husband, Charles Frank EDINGTON, were recorded there in the Census in 1920 and in 1930. Lucy died there in 1958. Jennie led a somewhat colorful life. Before arriving in Winona Lake, Jennie operated a brothel in Marion, IN. I think she was run out of town in 1920. When she moved to Winona Lake, she opened a "rooming house for young women students." Regarding her many names, she seems to have been known as Jennie for most of her adult life. She may have married a Mr. McNEAL between 1900 and 1904. In 1904, Jennie was known as Jennie McNEAL in her daughter Leota's marriage record. This was also Jennie's name later in life when grandson Donald HAWORTH was born in 1934, as is written in his baby book. However, between 1904 and 1934, the Census of 1920 shows her as Jennie WALKER. How to reconcile this? One way to provide an answer is to believe the reports of friends and family that Jennie actually did live with a man at some point. Perhaps this man was Mr. McNEAL and she simply told everyone that they were married so they would not be suspicous of her ways. However, she was also known to claim that "he was there helping with the housework." Any leads whatsoever on Jennie's death and/or burial would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
