Now that we found Abner, does anyone have the book for Brumbaugh, to see if wife Mary or others in the family are also there? I don't know the township, but believe they lived in Milford area. Surnames: BATZNER, BLOOMER, HILL Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/mh.2ADI/649 Message Board Post: Hello~ I am looking for descendents of the Charles Hill family of Kosciusko Co., Indiana. They lived in the township of Clay (1870 census) and Lake Township (1880 census). Charles Hill married twice and had two families. His 2nd wife was Marie E. Bloomer - Maiden name Batzner. Marie had a son named John Bloomer who was listed in the 1870 census as age 12. Marie was an older sister to my G. G. Grandfather, John Batzner. Children born to Charles and Marie were Sarena, Andrew J., Daniel T., and Mary E. I would like to make contact with this family or of the family by the first marriage.
P.S. Those listings were Civil War soldiers, unless there was another Abner Yonker. He was 54 in 1870; perhaps a bit old to have served? Not shown with his family in 1880 unless incorrectly indexed as ALEC. The age was close enough to be right. If you go to the county web site, there is a PICO search window where you can put in the surname and it brings up every Yonker entry on the site. Below is one from the death index. YONKER, Mary E. 14 Jan 1888 I'm posting this to the entire list because some people don't seem to be aware of the web site and all that it has to offer. Check it out--it's fabulous. What I don't know for fact is whether Elizabeth and Minerva were sisters, step-sisters or maybe even not related. I do not know any date details on Elizabeth (like when she was born, died etc.) or if she was in the same household or maybe was a former love of Hezekiah's or what, but apparently the romance was lingering several years later. I know that Archibald Kirkendall and his first wife Ellen MUIR had a daughter named Elizabeth, but I don't know if she was the one who birthed two daughters with Hezekiah. Ummm - maybe somebody knows that answer. My notes show: Hezekiah married Minerva Kirkendall on 7 May 1868 Together thhey had these children: Ida May Bushong b.1869 Charles E. Bushong b.15 Oct 1871 Elnora "Nora" Bushong b.1872 Sara Etta Bushong b.1874 Wilmeina "Melinda" Bushong b.1877 William Bushong b.1878 John H. Bushong b.abt 1880 Alice M. Bushong b.1882 My notes also show: Elizabeth Kirkendall had two children with Hezekia. Sarah was born 1861 (Sarah later married Ben Yarian on 20 Nov 1881, Kosciusko, IN) Mary was born 1873 (Mary later married William Lingofelter, in 1892) If you know any more about this situation that happended with Hezekiah Bushong, Elizabeth Kirkendall and Minerva Kirkendall, please let me know. I continue to search for as much correct information as possible, and I know there is always an interesting story from our ancestors.
Hi Karen I have the book you asked about. There is no "author" as such. As I understand it, the publishers sent agents around to collect the material which they published and sold to subscribers who pretty much wrote their own biographies. Which explains some of the fanciful accounts. The title page credits The Lewis Publishing Company, 113 Adams Street, Chicago 1887 Marguerite
Ancestry.com has the following book fully searchable, but I can't seem to locate the author. Does anyone know?
