Agree with Sherry. Both of these are hoaxes. PLEASE Check out http://ciac.llnl.gov/ciac/CIACHoaxes.html before passing on *any* virus warnings! Hello Is anyone searching the John B Johnson family from Va. I am looking for a John B Johnson who married Annie Schoft, either in VA or Koscuisco Co IN. They had a daugter Lois Johnson b. 1885 who came to Allen Co Ohio and married 1907 to John D Blain (e). I see there were Blain's in Wayne Twp along with Johnson's from VA. This makes me wonder if it could be the same families that the younger generations came to Ohio. Does anyon have access to the 1880 census that they could check the microfilm for John Johnson. I have the page nbrs if anyone could check for me. Thanks for any help Sue Kramer [email protected]
I am sending this to a number of mailing lists that we belong to. Hopefully, someone out there might know what they are. First of all, I received this last Winter a trunk that had what I was told was probably Masonic "hardware" in it and that it belonged to my Grandfather who died in 1960. My step-grandmother just died at 101, so that is why it took so long to get here! In looking at the various items, one set of items intrique me and I am not sure they are Masonic. There are two what I would call "suspenders". About two inches wide, heavy leather on one side (which is red). That is the back side. Am not sure what the material is on the front side, but it is red, gold and green stripes (small stripes). On each strap are two metal slide on gold "emblems" connected by chains. The top emblem is described as follows: Center top is what looks like an eye. Below the eye is an horizontal three linke chain. There are twelve "lines" spreading out from the eye in a half circle, bottom half of a circle, connecting the eye and the chain. Below this, the emblem is divided in three parts. Top left is what looks like a lamb, lying on the grass. Top right is definitely a male lion, reared up and ready to fight. Bottom center emblem made of eight crossed swords and sheperds staff. The latin word PAXAUT is under the top left emblem (the lamb). The latin word BELLUM is under the top right emblem (the lion). The bottom metal gold emblem has PATRIARCHS MILITANT written across the top. In the center, full size, is a solder's shield. Top right on the shield is a crown. Written across the sheild diagonally from top left to bottom right are the words JUSTITIA UNIVERSALIS. Behind the shield is a sword and a sheperds staff. This is where my four years of Latin might help: PAXAUT - Pax is the Latin word for Peace BELLUM - Bellum is the Latin word for War JUSTITIA - There is no "j" in Latin, replaced with an "i" - basically means right or justice UNIVERSALIS - Modified from the Latin word Universum (plural) meaning All. So I know what it says, but what organization did they belong to? The crown throws me as it may be a "foreign" organization. My husband wonders if it may be Knights of Columbus, a Roman Catholic organization. My grandfather was not Catholic, but his second wife was before they were married. And her father may have been. Linda. No I do not know where in Ohio Lydia and Sarah were born! I don't have much on the Hoppis Family , most of which I acquired last year and I have completed little or no research. But I have developed my family tree with about 50 Haps and Hoppis in it. If you E-Mail me directly with your snail mail, I will send you a copy of the 13 generation report I have developed on the descendants of Pater Happes (Note is was spelled Haps until Hans Michael Hoppis changed it sometime between 1688 and 1750. Also note that many of Hans Michael's relatives kept the spelling as Haps, and some changed it to Happis. ---------- > Hi Thomas: > > Do you know where in Ohio Lydia was born? Hi; I do not know why you did not get your newsletter. It went out around the 15th of May. Has your dues been paid to-date. If not that is why you did not receive one. The other reason could be the mailing list was not up to date at the time the mailing went out. I will check into this if you will e-mail me at the following address. I am the editor of this newsletter and the one who sends them out. Thanks for you interest. Sally M. Nichols 204 Ra Mar Ave. Warsaw, IN 46580 1-219=267-4578 [email protected]
