    3. Hi - As you may note if you read my occasional email to this and the Noble and Wabash County lists, I view the census films at a local FHC and take occasional requests for lookups on whatever one I happen to have. So, I am interested in doing this kind of work. However, if I had to accurately transcribe a census for a county by reviewing films, it would be a long process. I have about 200 - 300 households from the 1880 Noble and 1910 Wabash census and that took many many hours to do. I will volunteer to transcribe if either I can be expected to go quite slow, or if a more efficient way is used, such as viewing census pages electronically on my PC, rather than taking (hardly any) time available to spend at the FHC. I am interested in Kosciusko and Noble counties IN most of all, Wabash and Elkhart IN after that. 3. Hello, I am the new State Coordinator for the Indiana Census Project and would like to urge each of you to consider transcribing a Census. I along with about a million other Genealogists would Thank you. Our Project was started by volunteers of The USGenWeb Project, to transcribe all of the US Federal Census' and upload them to the Internet where they will be available in a searchable archive for all, for FREE. We provide our volunteer transcribers with either a database Program, for census years 1850 and 1860, that has been written exclusively for this Project, or a spreadsheet template for all other years. Our programmer is writing updates that will eventually include all other years. For MAC users we have a Coordinator who specializes in MAC's and she will get you the templates you need. At this time we are unable to provide our transcribers with a copy of the census for the county they wish to transcribe. Each of you must obtain your own copy of the census you sign up for. You will be volunteering your time to transcribe and you will be volunteering the acquisition of the census information. This information can be acquired on CD or in book form. Please consider helping this worthwhile project. Best wishes Sandra USGENWEB Census Project Maryland State Coordinator Indiana State Coordinator Traces of the Past http//www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/7259

    3. Just a thought... For those of you who have expressed enjoyment of the newspaper articles that I have put on the web page, you might be interested in a publication that has been on the Genealogy Section publication list for a long time. CENTENNIAL SCRAPBOOK is a 182 page fully name-indexed book published by the Section. In 1954 Warsaw celebrated the 100 year anniversary of the incorporation of the city called the Lakeland Festival Centennial. The Warsaw Times Union published a HUGE 14 section edition on July 6, 1954. There were dozens of articles about all aspects of history of the COUNTY... not just Warsaw. George Nye and Marion Coplen, historians of the time wrote some of the articles. There were articles about many of the industries and lots of pictures. I cut two copies of this newspaper edition up and pasted them up in scrapbook fashion and titled it Centennial Scrapbook. There was much advertising, but I wasn't able to include that. 1. Re: [INKOSCIU] Some Info Please - LIVERINGHOUSE - LEER
    2. Philip L. Ritter
    3. I looked in the 1870 Kosiciusko census and didn't find any names like Liveringhouse. In the 1870 Indiana Census Index (from Heritage Quest), there are only two Liveringhouses: A. , age 18, F, in Elkhart (p. 394) and Wm, age 54, in Elkhart, (p. 388). There is a Henry Livinghouse in Marshall (age 54) and a couple of Liverings (Abraham, 37 in Tippecanoe and Hain M. 52 in Elkhart). There was also a John Levering, age 44, in Tippecanoe Co. (p.125). Otherwise no luck. Could he have been out of the state? There were no death certificates in this area in 1877, but sometimes one can find information from tombstone inscriptions. No Liveringhouses in the northern Kosciusko Twp cemetery indexes, but you might want to try Elkhart Co. (there are films you can order through a FHC). >Hello All: > >I am looking for any information about my ancestor John Liveringhouse. 2. Hello All: I am looking for any information about my ancestor John Liveringhouse. I just obtained some probate papers showing that he died in 1877 (I think) - these papers give guardianship to two of his children to someone in December 1877 so I presume that is when he died. Said they were from Kosciusko County but the papers were filed in Elkhart County where many other relatives lived. I would appreciate it if someone could find him in a census perhaps in the 1870 census which would list his children or anyone else living with him. His wife's name was Mary Leer I believe and she must have predeceased him. Also, if someone can tell me where to write for an obituary of him - would there be a death certificate in 1877? 3. In one of your posts on the list the other day, you mentioned the surname Hibschman and listed the information below: > Theodore J. Riley 1861-1924 Indiana MARRIED > Minnie Bell Hibschman 1866 -1929 > Jacob Hibschman 1838 -1919 > Daniel Hibschman 1814 - > Henry Hibschman 1770-1859 > Henry Hibshman 1748 - 1818 > Johann Gerhardt Huebschmann 1717(?) We have two Hibschman ladies who married into my family. One was a Lucy E. Hibschman who married a James A. Goodman (an Eckert descendant). The other is Mattie B. Hibschman who was born 29 Aug 1868 and married Lorenzo Eckert. The latter were married in Kosciosko County, Indiana. I have no proof of this, but I suspect that Lucy and Mattie were sisters. I believe Lucy and James Goodman got married in Hancock County, Ohio where the Eckert family came from before they moved to near Mentone, Kosciosko County, Indiana. I do have a picture of Mattie if you are interested. Where was your Riley family from before Indiana? Don and Mary in Wyoming

    1. Re: [INKOSCIU] Lookups
    2. I will be happy to check the surname for you. This particular census is not a normal census. Apparently the governement wanted to know how many men it had (cannon fodder?) so this is a list of the name and age of every male over the age of 21. This can be of great interest because people came and went very quickly between the Civil War and 1870. Anyway, glad to do it. I HOPE to be able to do it Sat. June Byrne [email protected]
